3hr 15m can I claim

Options
My flight was delayed by over 3 hours going from a European capital back to UK today (it was delayed about 1.5hrs going there due to fog at the destination). The lift off was 3hr 15mins after scheduled departure. Told that a technical fault and they had to get another aircraft from another UK airport. Got given 6.50euro food voucher an hour after the scheduled take off time. Operator flybe. Can I get cash for the delay on return?

I did a retrospective claim about 6-7 years ago and it took a looooong time to get the compensation as it was all new then and they were arguing back etc and took over a year to pay.

Have things changed? It would pay for my hotel and flight :) /QUOTE]

compensation eligibility is based on arrival not departure time
What was the scheduled time of arrival and actual time of arrival?
    flight number?

So the course of events was something like weather delay for 90 minutes, then a further delay of 105 minutes due to a technical delay? If so, I think you'll struggle. Most likely the airline will say the delay caused by extraordinary circumstances was below the 3 hour limit.

No I didn't quite say that.

1 and a half hours THERE due to fog

3 and a quarter RETURN due to technical fault.

I've placed it with bott and Co and shows I'm eligible for compensation

If a technical issue caused a delay of 3 hours + then you'll be entitled to compensation for sure. Probably premature to place it with Bott before even claiming from Flybe yourself but sounds like that's too late now.
  • I didn't know that.

Although I've mailed Mr Bott, they haven't confirmed taking me on and are doing their checks etc so I haven't agreed myself as client.

Ill try flybe first then (but they'll be like a brick wall anyway I'm sure)

I've never claimed from Flybe but I've claimed for technical delays from other airlines several times and have never had a problem getting paid compensation.
