Nationwide here, single name mortgage and married for longer than mortgage has existed.

I didn't have a problem with HSBC and I am married. I had my mortgage approved flying solo on the application.

I’m thinking, and may well be wrong that you’re already ‘financially linked’ !?

My mortgage is with Santander in my name only and I'm married.
May I ask if you had to go through a broker for that?

    Hi

I am in the process of going for a mortgage application and I already have a decision in principle for us as joint applicants.

I decided to just check my partners credit report and I noticed there are ~12 late payments for them between 2015-2018! The accounts are now closed and all settled but obviously this makes me nervous that in the full credit application we will be rejected. At time of application to the broker I did say my partner may have some but I’m not sure if they are on report (Experian didn’t show them and Noddle was down for maintenance over the weekend). He seemed to have made it sound like no problem at the time - possibly because like me he assumed one or two, not 12.

Worst part is her missed payments were the fault of her family - not hers - but it is what it is now.

Now I have a squeaky clean record and I’m the sole income provider - which has made me wonder if it is at all possible for me to go for a sole application, or because we are married do I have to do a joint application?

    Thank you for reading
We’ve just gone through this with HSBC and was fine
