Rear parking sensors have gone mad!

I've only recently started using rear parking sensors on my Clio.
I thought the beeps would be simple to follow though I'll need better understanding of what's they mean when reversing.
I get slow beeps, then faster shorter beeps then silence -I have found recently my Clio has been parked with generous space at rear -much more space than I would leave without using sensors.
Does this sound correct.
OP hope you don't mind me asking via your original thread , which I'm finding interesting and relevant to my recent experience.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -

No worries about adding to the thread, parking sensors are a new experience for me.
On the Alfa, when working normally you get slow beebs, followed by faster beeps and then a solid beep.
At first I thought I was leaving a big gap on the solid beep, but just lately, even when reversing slowly the gap seems to have shrunk to about half a metre, which is a bit too close in my road:(0 -
I have got 4 sensors front & back. VAG-COM shows you the distance in cm between each sensor and the nearest object. I use a wheelie bin as my object. The computer then uses the distances to decide on the beeps. The beeps get faster with lower distances. If a sensor was inaccurate it could be replaced.0

I've decided my rear parking sensors are working correctly,
I've noticed this week the beeps get faster before they stop, I suppose the idea is to leave some distance from the kirb or object at back of car.
The very short though generous distance looks to be identical each time.
Getting used to the ides that there's no harm with the short distance being free, rather than years of trying to park as close as possible.
Also the sensors could be very useful in knowing there is some space available if tighter parking is required.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Yay, they are mysteriously working again, but for how long?
It does look as if one of the sensors has been pushed slighly into its housing.0 -
Just an fyi i believe (was told by a policeman) parking sensors are calibrated in such a way as to assume you have a tow bar attached which explains why you get the solid beep when there is still a decent amount of space behind you.0

Thanks you that makes sense.
Enjoying my confident use of beeps.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
I can forget about mine working in any kind of wet weather, and they need about 24 hours to dry out before they start to function again.0
