Rear parking sensors have gone mad!
Alfa GT rear parking sensors.
As soon as you put the car in reverse, there should be a single beep, followed by a series of shorter more frantic beeps as you ger closer to the object behind, then a solid beep when you are very close - or you have hit it:D
Yesterday, I put the car in reverse and there was a single beep, then the long continuous beep even though I was nowhere near an object, then it stopped.
Today the same thing, it is really frustrating:(
Any ideas please?

Failed or dirty sensor.0

Give the sensors a wipe with a damp rag. Mine behave like that when there's a film of dirt over them which is quite frequent at this time of year. I give mine a clean every weekend when checking tyres, etc.0

Leaf (eg) stuck on sensor?0

Thanks for the answers folks. I washed the car a few days ago, and I have been doing some searching on the net just now. They are very sensitive to moisture, so I may try squirting WD40 around the sensors and see if that works. Apparently it is a bumper off job to really get at the sensors.0

The are lovely and very cheap. Mine has 110K on the clock and averaged 48 MPG on a two week trip to France and Germany last year, which included a few 130MPH blasts on the autobahns.

I have a VW and parking sensors are very easy to fix with VAG-COM. It just tells you which is faulty and they are £7 for new ones on eBay. Few seconds to fit. A work colleague told me he had paid £300 at a BMW dealer for a new sensor. Just need the Alfa equivalent of VAG-COM.0

Other possibility is the number plate being loose or knocked out of place.0

On my Ford, the sequence of beeps tells you which sensor is faulty. Up till now, it has always been a wire come off, or a bad connection on the sensor. Never had to actually replace one. Mine are very easy to get to, have you looked it up on Alfa websites?0

maybe you have nudged one into the bumper slightly when the car was washed (happened to mine), hence the full beep as the sensor is picking up the inner part of the bumper...0
