Broadband Package Contract

Options
I took out a Line Rental, Broadband and TV package contract with BT in November 2015. My bills have since risen to £80.00 plus per month, as a pensioner I can't afford this, so want to switch to a cheaper deal. Does the termination of contract fee only count in the first year or will BT still be able to charge me for switching before November?

Early termination fees only apply when you're within a minimum term, you would appear to be on a monthly rolling contract at (I'm afraid to say) an horrendous price.

Use the link at the top to look at options and prices and then phone BT and see if they can come close.

    Contract started Nov 2015.
Question is how long was the contract for ??
    Usually 12 or 18 months .
Once contract ends you cancel or negotiate a new price deal . OR You continue on a rolling 30 day contract at full price .
You must be well out of contract and paying £80 is a fact of that .
You give 30 days notice , but need to find out your exact detail first . In that are you out of contract and now paying very high standard charges . Have you taken out new contracts since 2015 contract ends .

Depending upon what your actual services are you could have saved £30/£40 pm by renegotiating and not paying standard prices.

Example my renegotiated BT contracts give me Advanced Line Rental + 52 meb fibre BB + BT Max tv + BT Sport HD at circa £36 pm .
  • JJ Egan when you say Advanced Line Rental does this mean you have paid the £200 plus upfront or is it added to your monthly bill as my ALR now come to an end and my contract with BT for Broadband , Phone ,Tv is £36.50 a month but they have said it will be another £20 to add on the line rental or i can pay yearly amount upfront again.

That £36 pm includes advanced line rental paid up front /
Actual monthly bill to pay is about £17/ £19 as line rental has been paid .

Bill shows £36 less line rental credit minus £18.99

BT do like to try and tie you into another 12 month contract by offereing free evening and weekend calls. So if you accepted an offer like that in the last 12 months, be careful
  • JJ Egan thanks for that i my line rental finishes the 6th March- and i currently pay £36.50 for Fibre BB, BT TV,and anytime calls on phone although this package doesnt finish till May i just wanted to see if i could get something like new customers all in price of around £46 , but they are not playing ball yet

No need to play ball if you are in contract to May .You have no leverage as your line rental becomes monthly at the end of ALR .
