Alternatively, 70% of the office are p""""d off with you for raising it and, at least, some of the 30% aren't that fussed.

I am not getting at you at all because I agree with you. It certainly was very badly handled by the office manager. It should have been unofficial. It's just that, personally, it's not something that would bother me hugely and others may think the same.

I suspect, also, that it may well be the ladies themselves who wanted the event so it was never going to be something you were likely to be going to be able to attend. As I say they should have kept it to themselves and not made it official.

you think all women are unable to see it from the other side?
If you deem an email official then was the original email not official?

Of course not. I was just offering a possible different viewpoint to that expressed by the OP.

No idea what you are going on about re official email.

    Can you define pay gap?

Do you mean earnings gap? Have you considered why there might be one?

Because, amongst others, councils didn't think they needed to treat women equally to men.

I haven’t read the judgment but the crux is that they paid different roles differently. The court made a judgment which is questionable; but in any case was corrected- 8! Years ago

Yes just stick to your echo chamber

That’s clearly not what I’m saying. I asked her, and now you, to define the pay gap. What do you mean by it?

I gave a concrete example of comparable roles not receiving the same pay.

That isn’t the question. What do you mean by pay gap?

Paid the same for the same job ( roughly speaking )?

Your example is: The former staff had worked in such jobs as cooks, cleaners and care staff for the council and had discovered they had been denied bonuses given to staff in traditionally male-dominated roles such as refuse collectors and street cleaners.

The roles aren’t remotely comparable really. I don’t know why they were paid a bonus; and ultimately that may be the issue. But I’m unclear how outdoor and anti social work is comparable. I presume all those affected would be glad to do the work? Somehow I doubt it.

It’s ridiculous to compare a cook to a street cleaner. The only comparable factor I suspect is the basic wage; the working conditions are clearly extremely different

You are right. I am not sure they are struggling, because I actually think they are LAZY!!!

So LAZY (but capable) pupils do not need my help in that way as it would be a waste of my time.

Instead I help them by phoning their parents and making sure sanctions are out in place both at home and school for inadequate work.

    (This is working well).

You can criticise my teaching methods all you like, but I do my best to get the best out of all the kids.

So if a girl struggles, she needs extra support. If a boy struggles you assume they're lazy and ensure punishments are in place until they improve. And by 'improve' I mean by themselves without any additional support from you because giving any boy extra help "would be a waste of your time"?

You sound like an amazing teacher.

And you glean whether a child should be considered in need of help or is simply lazy by looking at average gender performance at a national level? I shudder to think what would happen if you ever decide to move into teaching maths as presumably you'd refuse to let any Asian child have the honour of even being allowed to enter your classroom, instead simply railing at them for having the nerve to even turn up given the sheer number of movies that portray Asian children as being particularly good at maths. They definitely won't need your help!

PE? Presumably a 'whites only' after school club to help those who are struggling based on the fact you've seen the Olympics and have concluded any black child who doesn't win every race must just be being lazy?

Maybe you could then get into SRE teaching. A child comes to you and says she feels attraction to other girls. Simply point to the fact statistically speaking most women are attracted to someone with a penis and it would be a waste of your time giving her advice and support and she should go home and have a think about what she's done having the nerve not to fit in with the national trend/norm.

Or perhaps teach ICT and just look in complete bemusement at any child who asks for your help if they wear glasses.
