when you search for their adds what do you type into gumtree?
  • I remembered one of the adds was a ford ranger so I just found that add and click show all ads.

Not sure how they have positive feedback already ?

They had "positive feedback" even before the domain was registered. That's the "modus operandi" of this particular scammer: He sets up a number of web sites that LOOK like legit forums but in reality it is just a single page mimicking an existing legit forum. And yes, sadly people have been fooled by this.
Those sites usually disappear soon and the re-appear with the name of the next "XYZ Trading Group" incarnation.
    Example:

(ok, so I'm not allowed to post links. Bummer. No examples then.)

This particular scammer and this particular template have been active for a couple of years now.

Right then ~ Back on a laptop ~ Fixed that misspelling ~ Hopefully, if anyone does a search they will find this thread

A bit of background The item was a car on gumtree and undervalued by about 40%.

This alone should warn you it's a possible scam and that applies to most items if there's no obvious reason why, the scammers don't need to be subtle as they know they'll always catch someone out.
  • I know but not sure about this one I emailed them about a car too and asked could I collect it and pay in person and they said that was totally fine?

Why not? Once they recognize that you are not willing to pay upfront they just play along because this makes it less likely that you'll post on some message board and the whole scam blows up even faster.
Most of those sites last for about a week, two weeks max.

There is no company, the scammer is quite likely not even in the UK (he's probably in Romania).
    Do a Google search for

    "Salenet Trading Group"
    "NexTel Trading Group"
    "DropNet Trading Group"
    "Fast-Sell Trading Group"

(and then you'll find numerous more; those were just a couple from mid 2017).
  • Hey all, so here we go. Please don't give me hassle but my name is Mark and I think i've fallen for this.

I found a seller on eBay for a car that I liked. We arranged for me to buy the car but the seller wanted to use, the now famous, selleo-group.com - I ran checks and it seemed like a legit company. He emailed me pictures, copy of log book etc. His address was in Aberdeen (funny enough so was the company selleo-group.com). He was really helpful telling me he wanted a quick sale as he was due to go back to Zurich. He called me from a Zurich number that now rings on an english ring tone?. I registered with the company selleo-group.com and they sent me an invoice. I paid a deposit as I refused to pay the full amount but agreed the rest upon collection either direct to seller or to them.

Last night the internet turned on me. All of a sudden all the reviews I checked out had been deleted. These were reviews from what I thought were upstanding members in places like pistonheads. People that had replied to a multitude of other posts being super helpful. This made me think that this service was legit.

This payment was late last night, I contacted STG as it was known to me via their live chat and the person was (and still is super helpful). I'm confused now! If someone has run off with my money, why bother still telling me that "All is well and we'll arrange delivery."

Regardless we've conacted various fraud departments but I seriously doubt that we'll see that money again :( - I'm told that their bank has placed a freeze on the account whilst they investigate. I'm sorry to say that I don't believe them and the money is gone.

Weirdly, I received an email from STG early this morning taht says the following? Again, why bother? This was before I started bombarding them with live chats and trying to call 'the seller'.

Dear 'My name was placed here',

This is a notice letting you know that we have received your payment. We will pass these details to our Financial Analysts and register it in our database in the next couple of hours. A copy of this email will be sent to the seller as well informing him of the status of the payment process. A new update will be provided to both after the payment is verified and registered.

Our 10 Day Money Back Guarantee service is available from the day the vehicle is received. Within the 10 Days Money Back Guarantee the buyer must verify the vehicle and reach a decision. If the buyer decides to return the vehicle he\she will be refunded, we will handle the shipping and the seller will be responsible for the shipping fees. If the buyer decides to accept the vehicle, our staff must be notified and the payment will be released to the seller.

Why is Selleo Trading Group safe?

Selleo Trading Group is a five-step process. It protects the Seller by verifying funds and protects the Buyer by allowing inspection of the vehicle before payment.

Attention: The payment will not be released to the seller until Selleo Trading Group will be notified by the buyer that he received and accepted the vehicle.

This information should only be used for resolving matters related to Selleo Trading Group. Any other use is strictly prohibited.
