Unfortunately turning the stopcock down doesn't reduce the pressure in a system. It reduces the flow which reduces the apparent "pressure" when a tap is opened, but when the tap is closed the pressure will be the same whether the stopcock is fully open or just cracked open.
The pressure is a constant in a "sealed" system like that.
If the pressure really is too high, you need a pressure reducing valve fitted after the stopcock.

That’s blown my mind a little bit.

    Hi,

Coming back to this thread I still have the same 24/7 dripping problem especially with the shower:eek:

Its nearly a year old now the fixtures are. So will replacing the old fixtures with new ones fix the dripping problem? If not then what's the obvious things to do to rule out 1st?
  • Here is a quick check I have used with a dripping shower head. Take the shower head off the hose, empty all the water out of the hose and shower head and put back together again.

Monitor the hose and shower head, if they start to fill up with water then you have an issue with the shower, if it doesn't then its just water from the shower head dripping out.

I have a shower head that can drip for hours so after each shower I undo it and empty the water out - no drips for the rest of the day.

Ok I disconnected/unscrewed the shower hose from the main shower mixer, from where I unscrewed it from I can still see the constant dripping from there.
  • Sounds like the shower mixer cartridge/valve is leaking so would need to be replaced. You could try going back to the manufacturer and ask them to send you a new component under warranty. But you would still have to pay for a plumber to fit it :-(

Re the tap, once turned off, use a few pieces of kitchen towel to try and draw any residual water out of the tap spout. Once done monitor to see if the tap starts dripping again. If it does you will likely need a new washer or ceramic cartridge,

Not sure if it helps but you can get taps etc for both HIGH and LOW pressure systems,is it possible you have bought the wrong ones?

Tap seems fine now, hardly any drips, if so its just the occasional intermittent drip.

Main problem is shower dripping 24/7.

The Douche spray fixture has dripping problem too.

To rule out if it is a pressure problem then fixtures in all bathrooms and kitchen of the house will have the same problem right not just 1 bathroom?
