HSBC Switch - How Long?

I applied for the HSBC switch for the £175 on 16/17th of this month and all I’ve heard back was a text message confirming my application. How long does it take to get the paperwork through normally?
As I expected to have something by now. Unless they have a backlog ..

I applied on Friday last week, had a text Saturday and an email welcoming me to HSBC yesterday.0

I believe HSBC have a reputation for being extremely slow on opening accounts, so I wouldn't be too worried if I were you.
I haven't got experience with HSBC themselves but when I opened a First Direct account (which is essentially HSBC....) it took over 1 month from applying online to account actually opening. Took them 3 weeks to send the paperwork to me.Debt Totals July 2019::

My parents applied on the Saturday 9th February and the application screen confirmed that account had been opened and what would happen next.
They received their cards by the Friday and pin numbers by the following Monday. My mum rang up to do her switch on the 18th (as my dad did his during the application) and they both did their phone code registering and were both registered for online banking by the end of that day. Now awaiting widget to come in post.
Welcome pack came Wednesday 20th and signature returned into the branch by person on Friday 22nd.
Their switches were chosen for the 28th February and seem to be going smoothly. They logged on and could see both switch letters in messages and see that all DD and STO have been moved.0 -
HSBC (and by extension also M&S Bank and First Direct) are well-known for taking a long time to open accounts with. You won't get a confirmation email from them and if you gave them your mobile details then you will get a text message saying your application was received but no reference number. Expect some paperwork to arrive in the post anytime in the next 2-3 weeks, which you will need to sign and return before your account is opened. Getting access to online banking will also take a while, particularly if you opt for a physical secure key. However in my experience, once everything is set up it all runs very smoothly.0

It took around a week for HSBC to send me a letter saying their records didn't match and I'd need to bring some ID to a branch.
Went in today and they said that as I already had a credit card, the whole system had exploded basically, and I needed to start again.
They also claimed that they wouldn't be able to honour the £175 offer, and that they'd had messages round that the offer in the first place was a mistake and it was always £150
And they had no appointments until Thursday0 -
I was just about to ask this same question.
Applied on the 22nd Feb, but I haven't had any emails/texts or post to confirm my application. :huh:0 -
Had a text today saying my debit card is on the way.0

I spoke the switching team yesterday and they have no record of my application. I have a screenshot of the 'thank you for your application' screen, but it doesn't appear to have reached their end.
They advised me to apply again (which I did yesterday), and ring if I haven't heard anything within 48 hours. Nothing so far....0 -
Same here: I applied 4 days ago. Like others, got the "thank you for your application" screen, but nothing since (no email nor text)...
update: received a letter after 5 days: I need to go to a branch as their records do not match my applications (I bet it's the usual many ways of numbering flats in Edinburgh!). Not sure when I'll have time as no easy reachable branch from home or work...0 -
Are you applying outside business hours? My switch is about to complete.0
