Would this be considered a business to business transaction? He is distributing the "artwork" and she is providing it for commercial gain.

Of course we don't know if he gains any benefit from the distribution but I would imagine he does get something in return. I'm just unsure if that would make him a business too?

That depends on whether OPs cousin (friend? I cant remember) does it with any regularity :D

But you can be sure sending screenshots, sending to others etc, this is not his first rodeo. Or even his 2nd. Or 3rd. Or......you get the drift.

I stopped being surprised by what transpires among people years ago. Some of the stuff I've seen really makes you wonder what goes through peoples mind. Like this guy, could get free !!!!!! on a multitude of sites.....decides he prefers the fraudulent route to obtaining them.

Likewise. Whilst some may be (not unreasonably) cynical about the episode occurring it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it were entirely true.

    Hello everyone and good morning.

Thank you to everyone who have contributed to this thread. The immature comments have been ignored.

Just to clarify, the pictures were not nude, but revealing. She'd put on skimpy outfits and take the pictures the way the pervert wanted it.

From what I gather so far, her chances of getting her jewellery in exchange are very unlikely even if she could afford to go to court, but she may be able to sue him for sharing pictures? She's going to confess the matter to her dad (my uncle) and see if he'd be willing to help with money. Personally, I'm wondering would a court even consider such a case? Would the e-mail and WhatsApp transcripts be regarded as viable evidence?

This was strictly a one off. It's not a habit by any means. There was no contract. It was mutual agreement until the pervert did a disappearing act.

Would or can that be considered a binding (legal) agreement in any court of law?

Apparently, one of my cousin's friends on her friends list has also been scammed by this same person.

According to her, he builds up a portfolio of all the girls he's scammed and shows them off to the next girl he contacts hoping to dupe them into believing he's a nice guy and doing the same.

His form of profiting is getting off on these pictures to substitute for the fact he doesn't have a life.

Probably, but you don't appear to have any idea which jurisdiction he's in, and I suspect she doesn't have enough evidence to reliably trace him even if she had some more money to throw at it. And I've no idea how you'd value her "loss" anyway. How many thousands of pounds does she want to spend on this?

Seriously, just move on and put it down to bad experience.

There's no guarantee that you will even be able to find this person let alone bring court proceedings against them, and that will cost a fortune.

Buy her the jewellery, so she hasn't lost out, and then ensure she doesn't get duped by other people online in the future.

That will be more valuable to her and you than any court proceedings

You guys are right. It's time for her to forget this ordeal and move on.
