I would NOT call, this is not something to do over the phone. You will be fobbed off.

The NEWBIES thread already covers all of this, including telling you to laugh at the 14 days:
Q - ''My PCN says the 'fine' will go up after 14 days, so why are you suggesting I wait before appealing?''

A - FORGET THE '14 DAYS JITTERS'. THE SO-CALLED 'DISCOUNT' IS A BRIBE NOT TO APPEAL - YOU CANNOT DO BOTH - BUT WE ACHIEVE 100% DISCOUNT IN ALMOST EVERY CASE.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD

I'm not going to be there in person until after the 14 days is up...
What's the significance of '14 days'?

Surely you are not considering the 14 day early payment bribe?

    Go for 100% discount. :D

Has The Keeper sent the appeal template in blue text from the NEWBIES yet? One appeal for each PCN, sent unedited. That is always your starting point.

UKPC signage is normally crap and doesn't comply with the BPA CoP so it's always worth an appeal to PoPLA using the inadequate signage point along with all the usual points available to you.

  • No, I haven't sent it -
Given what was said above "the fact you have amassed so many makes a court claim a 99% certainty",
and looking at the appeal template:
    - The letters being sent within 15 days,
    - Clearly not being within a grace period

I was honestly just going to pay and consider it an expensive lesson, rather than deal with the hassle of a case which I didn't seem to have any grounds in.

I can go and speak to the store managers tomorrow morning though - so that's worth doing before i pay.

    Thanks again

There is nothing to be lost by sending the appeals. Even if it goes to court it will show that you were trying to be reasonable. I still think a pop at PoPLA on inadequate signage amongst other points is worth it if the signs are as bad as UKPC usually manage to produce.

Get your own pics of the signs if you can to show how they fail the BPA CoP, especially if they have the usual tiny font for the £100 charge, or are obscured, damaged, high up on poles, hidden by bushes etcetera.

It's your money so of course it's entirely up to you if you want to pay a bunch of scammers who were caught on a previous occasion doctoring time stamps on their photo "evidence."

ALways go for signage and standing
    Make them prove their claim.
  • In terms of signage - I'll take my own photos tomorrow, but basically there is a small sign at the junction at the entrance to the car park, and then signs on lampposts dotted around the carpark
see screengrabs from google streetview here - unsee[dot]cc/ddc5531f
Cant tell from those pics whether the £100 bit is clear or not, I'll look tomorrow.

    Thanks

Streetview is only helpful if the images are contemporary with your case. If they are say several years old the scammers can say, no we have updated them and they all comply.

Get your own images and check any they send you, and use the "worst" ones available.

Use angles, trees, lighting using a possible the route the driver took that may show how the signs were missed or non compliant.

It's also worth checking with the council planning department to see if planning permission has been granted for the cameras, and advertising consent has been granted for the signs. Not having the latter is a criminal offence.

  • Yep, thanks - will do that tomorrow morning and try to be as thorough as possible.

The route that I drove in and parked really doens't have any clear signs,
