I am growing beetroot in modules in little clumps after seeing a Charles Dowding video. Being a newbie with a brand new plot it will help me know what is a weed and what I have planted. Otherwise I might end up spending time nurturing lots of weeds!!

I spent a few years nurturing my Kiwi fruit vine, which became a hazel sapling thanks to squirrels

I get oak thanks to the squirrels - I've a couple of dozen seedlings from the past two years all potted up

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

I get oak, hazel and hawthorn, though the squirrels probably don't have anything to do with the latter. They're all pushed into a place I keep for tree seedlings and the next year they go into the hedges I've been renovating.

Some of them survive, but a hedge bank is a tough environment in summer for a sapling.
