  • Yesterday, I just was busy. The parents came for lunch, and I'm cooking separate food for the vegans, carnivores and the son who now will only eat sausages on a Sunday. I made mushroom and leek pies for us vegans and they were very nice. I had enough for some extra pies to freeze up. I had some left over mash, which we had for tea with vegan cheese, diced onions and vegan bacon bits...I fried it and had it as hash, served with buttered bread...it tasted like what my nana used to make and I came over all nostalgic.

I used up the old carrots and made a lentil and carrot soup in the slow cooker, which is lunch for today. I made tomato and chickpea bread from Jack Monroe's recipes to go with it. It's come out HUGE! Fingers crossed it tastes as good as it looks and smells. The soup tastes amazing. I want to get things in the freezer to cover us when life goes belly up, which often happens these days.

I need to get organised as I have my niece and nephew to take to school and collect today. Dropped my son off but I have to go early and spend some time with him on educational psychologists orders...as he has been behaving rather badly. I think he's having sensory issues with his ASD and the hospital think so to but I have to jump through hoops to get him into a special school that can meet his needs.

Sorted through my course paperwork and found the bits I thought the fairies had run away with so I might get cracking this week and catch up a little but I think if my son is excluded again I need to hold my hands up and defer until next year because I can't study and home school.

The washing on the line refused to dry in the vague fogginess that seem to hang around for ages. I have better hopes for today as the suns out and the frost has gone. I'm hoping the weather lasts so we can tidy up the garden, I really hope I can successfully get some things growing this year.

Happy birthday to Scarlet Ribbons for yesterday x Sending positive vibes to all who need them :A

Mint1955 you might like to look on the flylady thread on this section of the board, I think it is quite good for people who want to take an organised approach go those jobs that are easily neglected. Alas I am not one if them, it frightened me.

I have done the fly lady thing but it’s far too organised for me and still didn’t cover those ‘just’ jobs we all forget.

I worry I am forgetting things especially the odd jobs.

  • Afternoon folks it's the old scrubber checking in - patio scrubber to be precise! OMG but it's hard work, especially with the sun beating down on me making it feel like mid August!

I attacked the patio with the long handled scrubber and a big bucketful of washing liquid. Then gave a hose down. The green has gone but it still looks mucky, especially the grout stuff. I have given it another swill with more washing liquid and will leave for half an hour or so whilst I have a coffee whilst I'm rustling up my energy reserves! (Have I actually got any?!)

Whilst I was out there I met my new neighbour! They haven't got the keys yet but he arrived with his future father in law assessing what jobs are to do out the back. There are still the old coal bunkers there! I know pa in law as he has the farm on the top road so he introduced me. He seems a lovely young chap but sadly NAN he isn't a Roger! He is a linesman on the railways!

I popped down town early doors this morning to collect a parcel and pay in a cheque. My winnings on the Macmillan Lottery - all £5 of it!!! It won't change my life! Popped in the bargain basement grocery shop but the only thing to tempt me were some Light & Free yogurts - love the lemon ones with some raspberries on top.

HEDGEWYTCH My you have been busy and everything sounds lovely.
MINT1955 I know what you mean about the Fly lady thread. I once made the mistake of poking my nose in there. It frightened me to death and made me feel totally inadequate!

Well more scrubbing awaits so will love you and leave you. Enjoy the lovely day if you can xx

Well my ‘just job’ today was the cooker inside, and the runners OMG my hands are sore now !!!!

I also pegged out and bought in and ironed so that’s a great day for me.

I need to identify the next ‘just job’ so I keep it in my head which in turn will annoy me until I do it.

  • Good afternoon all, I'm late to the party today.
Dumpling, hope you have a nice day with your sister.
Holly, your SIL sounds a bit clingy, maybe if her son does go to Spain she'll realise that he must have independence
NMLC, I used to hate work politics, they engendered bad feeling, and what a waste of time it is.. That's one aspect of work I don't miss.
TA, you're doing well with your scrubbing !!

I've spent the day tidying, and have got some washing out. It's a lovely day.

    Hope everyone is all right,
    Take care folks

mint, I occasionally poke my nose into everyone's business and today it's your turn.

If I were you I would go into each room in the house and make a list of all the jobs you DON'T do as routine. There you are.

Fortunately I am not you and can successfully not see things I would prefer not to deal with.

Regarding Flylady, you may do better to go on to Flylady.net. There is a lot more choice about how you organise yourself. Sneak peak for the Week may help.

    I applaud your dedication.

Thanks monnagran that’s the problem we don’t see things for ourselves so I was hoping if everyone had a brainstorm ‘things’ might crop up and I could make a list TaDa

-taff, you only need to clean the tops of cupboards and fridge freezers once. Then you cover them with clingfilm or newspaper. When it gets dusty enough you remove the paper and put clean paper up. Much easier and quicker.
