Fitbit notification issues

My Fitbit (Charge 2) used to vibrate and display when I received a call or WhatsApp, but it won't any more :(

I've switched bluetooth off and on several times.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the App
Restarted the Fitbit
All to no avail.

The bizarre thing is that when I try to 'pair' it in 'settings', 'bluetooth devices' it just won't do anything - it comes up in 'available devices', but however many times I tap on it, it says 'pairing' but then it says at the bottom of the screen (briefly) 'can't connect'

.... but in the fitbit app everything is up to date, so that bit of the synch works fine.

Can you tap on the Fitbit in your Bluetooth settings and 'Forget' it, then start again. And do it via the Fitbit app this time, rather than the phone's built in Bluetooth settings...

    Sadly, not!
It does not appear in the previously connected or currently connected devices, despite it syncing with the fitbit app.

Half way down this link https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1610 there is a section on troubleshooting notifications which might help.
  • Have you updated the app?

If so go to the app then app notifications and enable whatsapp as it will be off due to the update turning everything off (noticed this couple weeks ago when my blaze stopped getting notifications)

Thanks - I've already been on that page, but will have another look ...

Uninstalled and reinstalled it last weekend.

    <<Force quit the Fitbit app>>
If I 'force quit' on any other app, the 'force quit' button becomes greyed out, but when I do it on this app, it isn't greyed out!
And ... it's made no difference!

    <<Reset Bluetooth>> and <<Restart your Fitbit device>>

    Done several times

<<Tell your phone to "forget" your device, removing the connection between the phone and the Fitbit device>>
Sadly, it doesn't and won't appear in the connected devices, nor 'previously connected devices'

    :(

There was an 'email us' option, so, I've tried that :)

    It does say here https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2315
    that ...

Which devices are incompatible with the Fitbit app?
Due to Bluetooth issues that prevent certain devices, like Fitbit devices, from syncing, our products aren't compatible with the following phones:
    Huawei P8 Lite
    Huawei P9 Lite
    Huawei P20 Lite
    Xiaomi Mi 6

But mine is a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite .... Hmmm

They finally replied this morning with the inevitable 'have you tried our help pages' and 'are you sure it's turned on'
I replied immediately and I've now had this rather bizarre reply saying that my phone isn't compatible but anyway, try these few things!!!!!

    Hello J,

Thank you for your prompt response and confirming the troubleshooting steps you've followed. We appreciate your time and patience towards this case we are working on.

After further review, we are able to verify that your Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is currently not supported by the app which may be the reason to why your tracker is not receiving notifications. Though your phone qualifies the basis requirements, we cannot guarantee that it will work flawlessly with the app. With that being said, we recommend using a supported device as listed here for your Charge 2 notification feature to work.

Even though your phone is not yet listed as supported device by the app, may we recommend to update your Fitbit app wherein this may possibly fix the issue. To do so, you can click this link. Additionally, may we also confirm if there are other Bluetooth devices connected to your phone such as car kits, speakers, stereos, etc? If yes, kindly remove them from the list of your phone's settings Bluetooth list and try setting up the notification again and ask for someone who can text or call you and check if the notification works.

If however the notification feature still didn't work after following our recommendations and with the use of compatible device, let us know immediately so we can further assist you. We appreciate your cooperation regarding this matter, J. In the meantime if you have any other questions, let us know and we'll be happy to be of assistance.

A very strange reply! At least they are offering further help.

If all else fails I suppose you would not consider a Mi Band to go with your Mi A2 Lite. You can pick them up for less than £20. Great battery life and a very good free app.
