in Credit cards
Does anyone know how reliable this is? Is quoted me ‘subject to credit check’ a card and balance.
Just wondered what people’s experiences were of it. Has anyone been offered one then rejected at credit check stage?
Thanks

Of course. It could happen to anyone depending on individual circumstances.0

So what’s the point in a soft search? If it says yes then no?0
-
It gives you an indication of your chances.
It's about probability, not absolutes.1 -
Because it’s just a quick check of some basic data in your credit files.
You then have to carry out a full check upon application0 -
What data does a soft check provide that’s different to a full check0

Quoted from Experian:A soft credit check is an initial look at certain information on your credit report. Companies perform soft searches to decide how successful your application would be without conducting a full examination of your credit history.
Crucially, soft searches aren’t visible to companies – so they have no impact on your credit score or any future credit applications you might make. Only you can see them on your report and it doesn’t matter how many there are.
A hard credit check happens when a company makes a complete search of your credit report. Each hard check is recorded on your report, so any company searching it will be able to see that you’ve applied for credit.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

There are some things that are not searched with a soft search, hence why these eligibility checkers should be taken with a pinch of salt - they give a good indication of your chance for successful applications, but cannot be guaranteed0
