Meter mix up

So i still have the conumdrum of what i do about gas and electric.. scottish power have swapped my one and two readings meaning i am getting cheaper electric during the day snd not at night but its in my favour. I dont want to risk being back billed so have been racking my brains trying to figure out what to do.

If i switch to another supplier who has a standard rate for day snd night i would be paying the right amount going forward but what eill happen when i give my readings to them.. as in reading one and two will they realise that they are back to front or will they carry on the readings where they appear to nsturally carry on from? Hope that makes sense.

End of contract or a swap expect the final readings you give to current supplier to eventually be billed correctly .

Assuming that you have already informed SP of this and they ignored it then now send a complaint in line with their complaints procedure

Then if they ignore you or you are not happy with the reply you can escalate to the ombudsman for their adjudication

You don't need to have both electric and gas from the same supplier.

Awop the gas first - find out your actual consumption using two bills about 12 months apart which have the letter A for Actual.

Remember the figure you put in the comparison sites is the kwh figure not the meter reading.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Swapping the gas wont help sort the electric problem. I havent told them yet be ause im scared what will happen. I was hoping i could just swap to a new supplier but they will go by the old readings and im assuming they will figure its wrong?

I know it won't but in your first post you asked about gas.

You will need to have informed them of the mistake .
You may have a case then to fight the bill for the true amount .But expect to be backbilled and put the money aside .

Basically you give correct final readings to the current supplier . (Those readings are then checked by an outside source )
You also give those final readings to your new supplier who will access the checked figures .

    Nothing to be scared about!

But the longer you leave it the more you will owe them when the correction is eventually made

Until you tell them the error will continue

So up to you - as long as you are aware you will have to pay in the end!

Presumably as this is their mistake they can only back bill me by 12months?

    Not necessarily

When the readings have been mixed up they need to have been told about the error and not acted on it
