Old Style Daily Sunday 24th February 2019

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

Although I’m up I have had five hours which is good for me. I’ve just made a cup of tea and I am going to drink that while reading the forums and then try and get a bit more sleep. I’ve found that by setting up like this for an hour or so and then going back to bed I can get some more sleep. Not ideal, but better than things were.

I don’t think that there will be much happening here today. I’m not in the mood for doing any housework today so will probably catch up on some programmes I have recorded and read for a while.

If the sun comes out again I will go for a short walk but want to avoid the town. It was really busy yesterday and my friend and I couldn’t get a table in our favourite place for coffee yesterday.

Whatever you are doing today have a good day everyone.
  • Morning folks. Thanks HOLLY for the start. Another tossy turny night for me too but it's par for the course these days.

We currently have fog which is forecast to lift. But apparently we haven't as much sun in store as yesterday. That's a shame as I was hoping to make a start on the back wilderness. Will see what transpires. I really need to organise a new fence for the back but, until I smarten it up out there and scrub the green patio, I am putting it off. I really need to get on with it before the new young neighbours move in!

No other plans except attacking the ironing basket. Not much in there though, it's mainly the DGDs' stuff.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care one and all xx

  • Good morning, and thanks Holly for starting.

It's foggy here as well. Yesterday was sunny, but with a cold wind. It was a good drying day though

TA, talking about scrubbing your "green" patio - our backyard and front garden path get like this, and we scrub using detergent. I buy a big bottle of the cheapest bio washing machine detergent from Wil*o, and put it in the water, then pour some out and start scrubbing with a stiff broom. It's blo*dy hard work though!! Sometimes we leave it on after scrubbing, for about half an hour, and have a coffee, then rinse with the pressure hose.

It's safer than bleach or Jey*s Fluid, mind, if you have a pressure hose that does work on its own, but we think using the detergent keeps it green free for longer.

We went to our friend's yesterday for DH to have a look at her computer, and ended up bringing it home., he's working on it here.

Family visiting today, it's my birthday, I'm 71, Sounds terribly old, and I find it hard to believe that I'm that old!! Still, nowt I can do about it !!

Thoughts to the sad and poorly,

    Take care folks
  • Morning all and thank you for starting today's thread Hollyharvey.

Yesterdaywas a bit strange. I had a bath and sat on the bed thinking I would read for a bit, fell asleep. In the evening I fell asleep while OH and DS watched tv, went to bed and slept well so must have needed the rest.

I've got washing just finishing in the machine and a cake in the oven, a friend is coming over for elevenses. I'll be cooking a Sunday roast later, need to make stuffing and apple sauce.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Not sure what we'll be doing today, not much. Maybe and hour in the garden and a bit of housework, wow I really know how to live :D

Morning everyone...sat in bed with my breakfast....Sunday morning treat!
I went to the hospital yesterday to visit baby grand daughter....I had a lovely cuddle. DD is staying with her for the weekend to get used to looking after her by herself and then she should be home on Monday....just over 7 weeks after she was born. I haven't heard from DD yet this morning...I'm hoping she's had some sleep.
Going down to sit with my dad about half 9 so mam can go to church....he'll dictate his weekly email to eldest DD in Sweden for me to type.
Getting up now to put some hair dye on ….I'm looking quite silvery!
Hope everyone has a good day

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Bright blue cloudless sky and sun shining already here. Was lovely yesterday eventually it was very misty and dreary until nearly lunch time then the sky cleared. I got a load of washing on the line but it didn't quite dry, but have another load to go out today.

DH is in the bath, DS2 is eating his brekkie, DS1 still in his pit, I'll be heading to the shower in a moment.

Dinner last night was a cheeky takeaway enjoyed by us all. Lunch today will be roast chicken, roasties, mash, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, peas, swede, yorkshires and gravy.

I tackled the ironing pile yesterday - but there's more as always.

Today will be a chill day.

I have managed to get a photo taken and uploaded and now DH's passport application is done on line, I'll be posting his old passport off today and the village post office by next day and sign for delivery. Hopefully everything will then come together - have to wait and see. We'll have to take the other option if not.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning from foggy old Cheshire :D

Hoping it's a temporary weather situation as the forecast says.

Had a lovely early night last night and slept till 7 so now caught up and full of beans :j

Plans today are to drive to County Durham for a course tomorrow. Normally avoid overnights if possible but the M62 at 5.30 on a dark Monday morning holds no appeal. Need to do some prep for the course too so will save that exciting gem till this evening.

Food wise I'm taking a picnic with me as I am not enamoured by heading to the Brewers Fayre on a Sunday night where clearly I would be billy no mates :D I have tuna and onion rolls in mind with some crisps and sausage rolls :) Ill grab something here as well before I head off maybe a brekky.

Sunday Brunch to watch first so before that starts think I need to run around the kitchen a bit and fill the magic cupboard :)

Anyway hope you all have a lovely Sunday whatever your plans are :A

Edited to wish Scarlet Ribbons a lovely birthday _party__party_:heartsmil:heartsmil
