This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good Morning :)

mmm back to poor sleep again last night just 3 hours according to my watch :( will defo need an early night tonight. Head was spinning with "stuff" and not finishing work till ten last night meant that was all front of mind too.

Fortunately not much on the agenda today bar some housey stuff and my age uk call. Husband will obviously feature prominently :)

Shepards pie for dinner last night not sure about today I'll have a freezer rummage soon. Actually seem to be making a bit of a hole finally in the freezer but I really miss my cooking ...need to find a random family to feed :D

Right I'll get on and hope you all have a lovely Saturday :A

  • Morning NELSKI and all to follow. I slept like a log until 4.00 am then, wham, wide awake. One day!

Thanks to all the DGD minding I have the pleasure of a Saturday spent tidying and cleaning to look forward to. The washing basket is overflowing too. The sooner I get started the sooner I will finish I suppose. Just need to rustle up some GUAG. Meanwhile just another coffee whilst enjoying my Saturday morning trip down Memory Lane, courtesy of TB and his Sounds of the 60's!

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. We seem to have quite a few friends missing just now, I hope it's because they are too busy enjoying life. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still pitch black, quite mild although yesterday wasn't as warm as the day before, we'll see what happens today. I have washing ready to peg out on the line. I haven't yet found the bottom of the dirty wash basket so will continue with that.

DH and myself up enjoying peaceful cuppas, both sons still in bed. I will be getting a shower in a mo, once I've posted on here.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken pieces, chips/jacket potatoes, beans/veg for the menfolk. I had fishcakes with salad and coleslaw, very much enjoyed. Tonight we're having chinese takeaway whilst we watch the rugby. Tomorrow we'll be having roast chicken with the normal accompaniments, after visiting the parents.

DH had a letter arrive yesterday to renew his photocard driving licence, there's only 2 ways to do it, either on-line BUT you have to have a valid passport to do it this way or go to a designated Post Office which can take your photograph and deal with the paperwork - the nearest Post Office to where we live is over 20 miles away! I thought computers were supposed to be an advance not a restriction! To say he's not impressed is an understatement. Our passports are out of date so can't use them. So we've decided to get his photo done this afternoon - that will mean hopefully I can get his passport applied for on-line, then once that arrives apply for the driving licence photocard - what a system! Hopefully the passport won't take an age and I can then organise the driving licence photocard.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning early birds I too am up with the larks this morning .I have a bit of baking to do for DGS Jack for tomorrow as its his birthday and we are all going en famille to hertfordshire to see him at Uni and take him out and feed him large amounts of food :) and leave him equally large amounts of eating stuff as well I made some shortbread last night as they are his favourite biscuits, and today it will be cake and sausage rolls for him and his pals in Halls

So a busy morning ahead and if I get a chance I may pop to Aldi's and get a few odds and ends on my shopping list to finish off this months food shop

Hope everyone has a good weekend and the sun shines down on you all

<<hugs>> to the sad poorly and low amongst you and Happy Birthday to anyone celebrating

    Cheers chums

  • Good morning all, and thanks Nelski for starting off.
It seems to be fine and dry outside, and nearly full daylight.

Nmlc your Post Office seems along way away, hope you get sorted with the photos.

Jackie, hope you have a great day.

We had the two youngest DGS's yesterday, so were pretty tired by the time they went home, but we love to see them. DGD 6 likes to bake, so we did that, and the DGS 11 months is walking round the furniture and into everything, so we're back to the days of moving various things out of his way.

I visited a friend last night and we had a really good chat.

Today we're visiting another friend, and DH is going to try and fix her computer.

Thinking of the sad and poorly,
I was just thinking yesterday, Olliebeak never posts now, hope they're ok
    Take care folks

    Morning All

Ah, Saturday, a day for a lie in you would think? No, I was awake at 5.30! Still, the bedding is in the WM, I'll hang it out in a bit with the other 2 loads I did last night.

Welcome hedgewytch, lovely to see you.
Enjoy your visit to DS JackieO.
nmlc - I applied for a new passport a couple of weeks ago, it only took 10 days to get a new one.

I have news - DD's illness is Hyperemesis (acute morning sickness, or in her case permanent sickness!). She and her partner went for their first scan yesterday and all is good. I'm so happy for them, just hope her sickness goes away soon. I've know for weeks and it's been hard keeping it a secret!

Not sure what this weekend holds, still can't do proper yoga so I may go to Ikea to see if I can spend my voucher - thanks for reminding me Speky.

Happy Saturday everyone, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Today it is forecast to be sunny and warm so I think I will probably go out somewhere. I don’t go to the park on a Saturday because they hold the park run where I like to go and a lot of the participants stay around well into the afternoon and it makes it a bit busy for me.

I may see if a friend is about to come out for coffee and cake this morning. She usually sees her daughter on a Saturday but I think she is away this week. Failing that I may join Nelski in watching James Martin. It seems a shame to stay in if the weather is good though.

Earlier in the week I had the renewal through for my building and contents insurance and the cost had increased by fifty one percent. After using the comparison sites I got better cover for fifty percent less than I paid last year, so was really pleased with that. Then yesterday I got the water bill and that has increased quite a bit. I do wish we were able to shop around for water providers.

Anyhow, have a good day everyone.

Camelot I'm sorry that your daughter is unwell, but congratulations on the good news.

  • Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off Nelski

    Welcome Hedgewytch

    Camelot, wonderful news, congratulations

Special thoughts to all those finding life difficult at the moment.

Nothing much happening, weather has been lovely so might have a little walk or spend time in the garden.

    Take care all
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
  • Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Nelski.

    Congratulations camelot!

I have slept quite well but think I could manage another few hours. I'm not at my best at present, not sure what has caused this but it will pass.

Managed to blitz the bathroom yesterday and this was followed quickly by one person having a shower in the manner of a herd of wildebeest spotting a waterhole and the other one having a shave followed by a shower to rival the previous wildebeest attempt. He tried to wipe away the whiskers and it wasn't that effective so I did it again. Just the washbasin and floor, not the entire blitz.

Police dropped by to collect half a dozen bears and I'm just finishing a couple of quite complex bears for a friend, these are wearing little hooded babygros. Then I plan to attempt some firefighting bears.

OH is still in bed but when he gets up he will go hunter-gathering at Tesco and I think I'll have a bubble bath.

Thinking of all those who are struggling for whatever reason.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Morning all! Have an appt with the optician this morning [ early, waaayyy too early, what was I thinnking what was I thinking when I made it?!] followed by shopping for ingredients for a curry night with a couple of friends, OH is going out so we can cackle as much as we like. I'll be making a raita, some homemade mango chutney and possibly a coconut/almond rice pudding type thing.

The little prince has gone out after deciding to stay the night, but under the bed, where he could sleep on the duvet covers which now have to be washed...they will be replaced by a throwaway fleece that won't mind the cat hairs. Not that there are many of them at the moment [he does like a clean], but if he decides to stick around, it'll be the summer moult before long.

Congratulations Camelot! AOD, take it easy, all the leftovers from a migraine can stick around a few days. SO, enjoy your time in the garden or out...Nelski, enjoy your husband, any cooking you do and some sleep woman! Holly, well done on your MSE ways and enjoy your coffee!! Jackie, have a good trip to see him with your provisions...TA, have a good day.
Wotcha too many people to count now, where have you all gone?!
    Salubrious Saturday!
