In November 2018 I purchased a camera from eglobal Uk website for over £200. I paid extra for delivery insurance.
(I have since read their reviews and won’t buy from there again, but have also realised they’re not based in Uk so I think are exempt from a lot of our acts).
Yodel were delivering my parcel. The tracking stated my parcel had arrived but it hadn’t. I contacted yodel and they informed me they had incorrectly delivered the parcel to an incorrect address in England (I live in wales). Yodel told me that they weren’t able to provide me with written information as I’m not their customer, my seller is but suggested I spoke to the seller.
I asked the seller to look into it but as the tracking ID stated delivered eglobal closed the case and would not refund me.
I opened a claim with PayPal, and following a two month wait I’ve had the same outcome. As the tracking ID says delivered they won’t help me refund my money.
It’s so frustrating. I don’t know what to do with this. Does anyone have an experience with a similar case or can offer any advice?
Thanks in advance

How much did you "save" by buying from them? Someone at Christmas lost over £300 trying to save less than £20 on the RRP in the U.K. Until people stop trying to be greedy, these sites will continue to thrive.0 -

You're right, the consumer laws that apply are those of the country you've bought from. A very quick look at the site (which is obviously semi-amateurish) and it's....Hong Kong. How's your Cantonese and HK consumer law knowledge? The only route to resolve this is through eGlobal I'm afraid.

To be fair to the OP, it is called eGlobal UK - no I wouldn't be caught out (fingers crossed) as I've hung out for such a long time on this board, but they were. Your comment about being greedy is a bit unfair, especially if they thought they were buying from the UK. They've acknowledged their mistake which has cost them a lot.
It's such a pity that Martin doesn't publicise more this aspect of saving money on his frequent TV appearances.
OP - is there any chance that your PP a/c is funded by your credit card - there might be an outside chance of your going along that route - or even a debit card claim through your bank? You do have the evidence from Yodel that the item was wrongly delivered. Got to be worth a try.0 -
Perhaps greedy isn't the right word. I was looking for a word that describes people's motivation to trawl around websites they've never heard of and have done no research into just to save a few quid. Opportunistic, perhaps? I'm all for savvy shopping and wouldn't begrudge anyone shopping around for the best price on things they have to buy, but the items in question on threads like these are nearly always expensive consumer electronics; cameras, phones, tablets, consoles, etc. Hardly consumer essentials and not cheap, even at HK prices. Maybe greed is the right word after all?
I agree these sorts of things need highlighting because loads of people are falling for it.0 -

Yodel told you it was delivered to an incorrect address but then couldn't tell you that in writing? Yeah right. More like "how can I try to scam an overseas company and claim the item wasn't delivered, when it actually was".0 -
Thank you for the replies so far. It was a Black Friday deal so I thought it was a bargain, I didn’t look too much into it which I regret now. I don’t think I was being greedy as I wasn’t trying to buy loads, I just couldn’t have afforded this camera if I didn’t have a good deal on it and my excitement at being able to buy my significant other this present meant that I didn’t look too closely at where I was buying it from until it was too late. As I said in my original post this is an error that I have definitely learnt from and hopefully won’t make this mistake again.
I think I will try contacting yodel again and see if they will alter their tracking system to show that it was delivered incorrectly. That way PayPal May help me, however unfortunately eglobal won’t respond to any emails I have sent since they said they believed it was delivered. Unfortunately my bank account is linked to my PayPal account not a credit card.
With regards to the person who believes that yodel should give me this information in writing, and that I must be trying to make money, where did you get this information from? I would love to be able to quote it when I contact yodel again as I would really love them to help me. They gave me the actual address their driver sent it to and tried to retrieve the parcel the following day however were not successful.0 -
I should clarify they gave me the address over the phone0
-
Have you been to that address to ask if they have your delivery? That's the first thing I'd have done.0

Do Yodel not show detailed tracking information such as depots etc ?0
-
They didn’t give me the house number but I have the street name. I can assume they delivered to the same number that my house is but not sure seeing as the street name is completely different.
The depot information shows it was at the wrong sorting office and not my local one but then says delivered (and signed for) successfully. Obviously not my signature on there.0
