    I've been Money Tipped!
I'd read that as meaning 'one belonging to/with the other, useful, comfortable and worth keeping' as opposed to 'what's the use of just one odd sock...'?

It is to my mind a compliment conveying as it does warmth, happy familiarity and that feeling of safety so nicely expressed by Barbra Streisand in Evergreen where she sings 'love, soft as an easy chair..'

Sounds comfortable and endearing. Said in an envious/lucky sort of way. The sort of couple nobody would ever expect to split up. It's nice :)

Better to be thought of as that then vain.
  • My mum uses that expression, and it's definitely a compliment! She explained it as you only wear slippers when you're at home, and that's where you belong and where you're the most comfortable.

Just talking to the husband and he's never heard of it before either but he initially said 'why would she say that'? And took it how I did.

I read the replies on here to him and he has just squeezed my leg in a 'that's nice' way..... Ha ha

It's strange how there's old sayings and things that some people have never heard of and take completely differently.

I think we would rather be a pair of flip flops...
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

    Flips flops?! Are you serious?
Cheap, noisy and wear out quickly!
You've got me wondering how I would like to be described in terms of footwear.
In reality it would be like a pair of Clark's.
    Solid,
    dependable and a bit boring....
I'd like to be- actually I wouldn't mind being likened to my slippers,
They're Harris tweed, ie natural and sheep's fleece lined so very cosy, they're also a bit worn but have many more miles left on the clock.

I was thinking more of the sunshine, sand and beach situation. Slippers are too 'winter'.... 🤣

  • I quite like that term. I find it comforting

But then I am somewhat of a weirdo
