Like an old pair of slippers....

Options
What does this mean in a married couple please....

Ie... Said to a friend 'how are 74jax and Mr 74jax?' and friend replied similar to 'oh they are still together, they're like an old pair of slippers those two'....

I'm not sure I like it, but don't know why.... 🤣
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Well worn in, moulded to the foot and comfortable.
    Not a bad thing.
Maybe not looking their best any more but plenty of miles left in them.

Lol! It also means they are a pair and belong together, ones no good without the other..!
I wouldn't take it to heart.

Me and Mr B were in Morrisons a few weeks ago and we were holding hands. A random woman came up to us and exclaimed “Oh, I love seeing old couples holding hands!”

I’m only 54!!! My charming husband made it worse by saying “I’m only holding her hand because she’s drunk...again”

    :eek::eek: (I wasn’t drunk!)

  • 74jax,

Think of it more as Hygge - i.e. comfort and bliss. Hot chocolate, marshmallows, roaring fire - and your favourite slippers! What's not to like? ;)

I don't know why I don't like it. She told me around 2 weeks ago and I'm still thinking of it.... 🤣

Makes me feel old, boring, set in my ways....... Something to say about people maybe 80.... Well to be fair it's not even something I would say. Why compare someone to footware....

Comfortable, a team and at ease with each other. No need to put on a show

Actually, our old school caretaker used to say this about his marriage - before his wife b*****ed off with someone else.

Yeah, it just feels.... Too set in their ways to try anymore .... Hubby is back tonight I might ask him what he thinks.

Contented, not set in their ways.

We hold hands, admittedly its because he thinks I cant be trusted to cross the road on my own.......

For some contentment with each other is elusive, enjoy.
