How to find a decent cleaner?

people with a university education are arrogant snobs
I believe the correct term is "metropolitan elite" :rotfl:, that's every last one of us with a degree. Even if you live in a !!!!!! northern town.0 -
Im not stretching. Ive offered validity to my argument with reason.
Might be worth bearing in mind that my opinion was formed in response to your pompous post where youre derogatory to a number of members in society.
From your post id say youve probably insulted half of the electorate, cleaners and those who dont speak english at the very least.
Is confrontation new to you? I get the feeling that rubbing people up the wrong way isnt?
You are stretching & haven't offered any validity.
I don't believe I've been derogatory at all, but it's quite ironic you think so- have you considered how derogatory you're being?
I'm sorry you feel I've insulted half the electorate by searching for a cleaner, but have you considered that this might be in your imagination? When I stated the availability of trades in our area had decreased since the brexit vote, and it's now close to impossible to find trades, this is is a fact. If you take it as an insult, perhaps think about where your anger lies- are you angry with yourself? Are you angry with the messenger for stating the facts? Re: the feelings of the electorate, I suppose this would affect my plans of becoming a politician, but fortunately I'm not planning to. Perhaps you should?
Regarding your final comment accusing me of rubbing people up the wrong way in my life, thank you for your observation. Since you don't know me other than a post on an online forum, do you see any irony in your comment? You've derailed a thread & began a tirade at things no one actually said so perhaps you're repeating an observation people have made about yourself in life?
I do see the irony in my comment- I'm hoping mirroring your perspective from the other side proves a point. Doesn't feel good does it?My end, all ive done is insult you, i dont feel like im losing the moral high ground here.
Hopefully the irony of your last statement isn't lost even on you.0 -

I know! The judgements become even worse if you live in London- regardless of how many decades you've rented a bedsit or 4m2 bedroom working 45 hours a week. You're either the spoiled elite or spoiled stupid elite. If you speak with a southern accent or good grammar, it makes things even worse. Despite all of this the insults only seem to flow one way- I don't know anyone with a degree who insults people without them:rotfl:0 -

You're telling me? I'm a southerner but live in the north east (still have a strong estuary accent), have a degree, I'm a remainer, and I'm one of those evil socially-liberal Labour voters! I am a fully paid up, card-carrying member of the Liberal Metropolitan Elite (TM)!
Fortunately the people of my adopted home are really friendly, the only couple of real a***holes I know are rabid brexiters though! Proper frothing at the mouth types :rotfl:0 -

apparently all remainers want cheap cleaners according to the brexiteers derailing this thread. Interestingly, I've never seen or heard of this behaviour in reverse from a remainer, i.e. I rarely if ever see a remainer putting words into the mouths of brexiteers- at most they seem to listen & reply with a response to each point made. On the other hand, I've heard so many brexiteers ignore the points of remainers and twist them to suit their rhetoric.
Just take this thread as an example- I'm looking for a cleaner, yet some brexiteer appeared and insisted I'm looking for a "cheap cleaner" (which I did not say)- then he took insult at that point he himself imagined. He went on to assume I'm a remainer, and take that assumption as fact.
As someone who is on the fence, I'm impartial enough to notice the plusses & minuses of both sides and observant enough to notice the disparity between people on each side.
I wonder when everything will turn around again...
Some sources for my criticism :societys_child wrote: »..vote remain, just so you can get a cheap cleaner? !!!!!! . .
All I'm looking for is a decent cleaner while I'm at work- I didn't expect brexiteers to turn up on this thread asking me why I don't want to be a cleaner or do it myself! (Spadoosh's post was deleted by mods I believe). It's laughable.0 -
If anyone is still interested in the original question, your local nextdoor.co.uk forum is invaluable for this type of thing.0

seems to require a lot of private info just to look at the forum, doubt that'd be used much because it of privacy issues...0 -

I'm a self employed cleaner. Some clients I get through an agency, some through word of mouth recommendations.
A second thumbs up for your local nextdoor.co.uk forum (my private client recommended this to me in case I was looking for more work.)
Perhaps try some more agencies. Some will hopefully be more accommodating.
I applied to several before I found one that suited me and had plenty of work available. Plus extra temp work on occasion especially the Christmas period and holiday time as we fill in for ones that are away.
Incidentaly how much of the £17 does the cleaner see?
The one I work for lets you set your own rate then charges the client for each visit. All work is local to me by a short bike ride.Back on the trains again!0
