Santander - Customer ID Security Issue on Statements

I was going to print some e-statements from my Santander account so I went into the e-documents section in order to print the PDFs of my statements. HOWEVER my 8 digit customer ID is on these statements.
I've been to a branch to see if they can print the statements but the same customer ID appears on them.
So I've requested copies through the post which could take up to 2 weeks to come.
It appears to be a long term problem with Santander as there's this thread from 2010

So a warning to folk - ensure you don't use Santander statements for proof of anything and if you do print copies then destroy them once you are finished with them

What if they have your customer number on them too?
I think you're worrying about nothing.0 -
Is this the same customer number that is used for logon to online banking? If so, the more secret you keep it the better so obviousy it shouldn't be printed on statements in full.0

You could get the PDF file and edit it using a program like Nitro before you print it. Or just use electronic copies and save trees
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

You know your statements have your name, address and account details on as well, don't you? It's an outrageous security issue!0
