Old Style Daily Friday 22nd February 2019

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I’ve managed about three hours sleep so want to try going back to bed shortly. Meanwhile I’m having a mug of chocolate and a read of the MSE forums.

I can’t decide what to do today. I’ve got an appointment at lunchtime (unfortunately not a lunch out) that will take about an hour but other than that I don’t have anything planned.

The forecast is for a warm but cloudy day so it probably isn’t a day for going to the park. I don’t need to do any housework though, so that is good.

I may go and get the few bits I need from the supermarket first thing in the morning before it gets too busy, then I won’t need to go anywhere near the shops over the weekend.

Yesterday my decluttering of my wardrobe got as far as me finding a pair of stray old, but clean, socks at the bottom and throwing them in the bin. I’ve got a feeling this task could take some time.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Good morning everyone :hello:
After yesterdays dramatics we appear to have calm for now. It was a long and difficult day but Phoebe seemed to cheer up by the evening and I think she went to bed a bit happier. I don't know what is going to happen in the future but for now peace reigns.

I am up again after my usual 3 hours sleep. It is payday today so I am sorting out our bills. We don't have to pay Council Tax or water this month so I am using the money saved to pay off another chunk of my Argos card. I switched my phone contract to a sim only deal as well as my contract was up and my phone is perfectly alright.

I am going to ask one of the kids to make chilli con carne for dinner tonight. The sweet and sour last night was too sweet for my taste as it came from an Uncle Ben's jar. I gave mine to the dogs and they really liked it :). I will cut up some potato wedges to go with the chilli as we had rice last night.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Good morning and thank you for starting us off Hollyharvey.

Yesterday was a total washout as I spent most of it with a headache but that seems to be passing off now - and I've stopped feeling queasy. I'm not planning a particularly busy day today though.

OH has to take the car to the dealership again, this time it is on recall for a potential problem with the airbags and again he will be staying there while the car is checked, seeing how much coffee and biscuits he can contain. The place is not off tge beaten track exactly but not easily accessible by public transport and he may as well stay.

I think the Friday Tidy is not going to get done today, I've tended to do a little bit each day recently but I do need to do the bathroom.

Other than that, not much happening here so I will wish everyone a good day, with special thoughts for those who are unwell or worried.

    Morning All

Looks like it will be another nice day, yesterday was sunny and mild, I didn't have a coat on - progress towards the spring.

DD and I did a bit of shopping after work, she seems to have lost a lot of confidence so I sat with her while she was driving, she hasn't driven since before Christmas. She was absolutely fine so that's something else ticked off. The only downside was it took me over an hour to get home as there was a breakdown.

Swimming and work today, it's my 3 O'clock finish on a Friday which is always a treat. If the weather's good I'll get the house aired and the housework done.

    Happy Friday, take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Another nice day in store says the weatherman.

I actually slept better last night but that's what childminding does for you. It was a L O N G day and, being the holidays, they were later to bed too. From dawn to dusk it was a chaotic day to say the least! The lounge was turned into a dance studio in the afternoon with the big rug rolled up and the 2 seater shoved back. The 2 youngest are practicing for the dance competition they are entered for next w/e! "Margo" doing ballet and "Darcey" doing a tap and cartwheeling performance.

Hopefully today will be less chaotic. After morning ablutions and breakfast they plan on watching a film. Lunch will be the pizzas they didn't have yesterday and when DD finishes work mid afternoon we are off shopping. My list has got longer as they are eating me out of house and home! DS called in for lunch yesterday too on his way to a late shift at work.

The young chap came just after lunch to look at the water meter situation and he fitted one there and then. Good service. That should save me a good £40 a month once it's up and running. It all has to go through the system and billing process first.

Needless to say no jobs are planned for today so the Friday Tidy will be a Saturday Blitz instead. I won't know where to start but I'll worry about that tomorrow. Meanwhile I feel I am living in a disaster zone. Take care all and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. xx

    Good morning :)

And a really good one it is too after a lovely long sleep. It makes such a difference to how I feel :j yesterday was another good work day as I escaped really early so got home in the light which is unusual.

I am glued to BBC news this morning after following this amazing story which I have been following for months.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-46738576

In a world of constantly depressing Brexit or terrorists trying to screw our system its an heartwarming tale and it would seem Tony will get his wish at 8.45 this morning with a flypast. If you have 5 mins inbetween essential Friday tidies have a look you will be touched for sure

Working at home today with another 2 conference calls and a pile of stuff to catch up on. I'll also do some essential house stuff too then its work again tonight.

Food last night was lamb kebabs in wraps. Tonight probably the chilli I didn't have.

Have a good day all ..least its friday :D
  • Oh thanks Nels for reminding me. I knew yesterday and this morning I had totally forgotten. Putting TV on in readiness. I was in tears when Dan was talking to him on Breakfast. xx

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off, hope you managed some more sleep x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work, DS1 still in his pit, DS2 now moving about having eaten his brekkie, as have I, and I'm showered and dressed.

Dinner last night was a piri piri spatchcock chicken, hot new potatoes, ham, cheese and coleslaw, side salad for those that wanted, namely me. Tonight may be breaded chicken, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg/salad.

Yesterday was a day of not stopping and running around all day - although I did achieve what I wanted, so that's more crossed off the "to do" list - only problem is I still have all the housework type jobs still to do - will just do my best. There's a basket full of washing to hang out as got a line full dried outside yesterday, it was absolutely gorgeous here, this morning it's foggy - so once that clears it should be another good day - according to the forecasters - we'll see.

Some of the work problem seems to have been given a resolution yesterday - so I'll see how we go when I get back to work on Monday.

    Keep safe and well x
