Cold selling at door for gas/electric
I have had someone at the door this evening advising me they are from martin lewis money saving expert trying to get me to switch to octopus for my electricity and gas ? I am sure I have heard martin say this would not happen the guy explained that he works for 47 utilities companies he even said he was martin lewis son ? Is this true firstly that you are sending people out to knock on doors or is this another exploitation of martin lewis name ? I appreciate any info please ?

So this guy supposedly works for Martin Lewis, also works for Moneysavingexpert and presumably in his spare time also works for 47 utility companies ... what a busy boy!
And he claims to be he is Martin Lewis's son? That'll be a surprise for Martin
Welcome to MSE btw :hello:, albeit the briefest of visits.0 -
OhSorry but is some sort of joke? The OP says they've been visited by the son of Martin Lewis is and they're asking if this is legit? I mean, really?
If this is true, maybe there are millions of impressionable souls our there ready to be be taken in. Perhaps I'm in the wrong business.0 -
Door step selling was the normal method in the old days and for people without internet access it was a good thing IMO.. They would be helping many to get away from the big expensive suppliers like BG and Npower .
Even today there is a £375 (for an average user )a year saving switching to Octopus away from eg British Gas on standard/variable tariff.
Maybe it would be a good idea to allow them back cold calling. These "scammers " would have been making a £50 referral fee for helping some people save £375 .0 -
Sounds legit to me, I bet Martin goes out on weekends too.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

He doesn't have a son, only a daughter. I know Martin is keen for kids to get savvy with financial matters from an early age, but I doubt that even he is sending her out to do cold-calling at 6 years old...No free lunch, and no free laptop
