TSB lost 11 years of my bank statements in post

Sorry, I know you feel wronged and this forum is intended to help people, but I personally think you're a bit of a [insert word for male appendage].
You received compensation from the bank manager for the anxiety it caused you and then proceeded to go home and make another complaint? Like literally where do you people come from, I absolute abhor this compensation culture and to save you asking - I'd have just called up and asked them to send them again - they probably didn't even send them in the first place, you don't know... AND, ELEVEN YEARS... FOR FREE!
The reason they haven't replied to you is that they want you find something more important to do with your life and politely [insert slang synonym for urinate] off!
Threads like this make me relish the fact I don't work in Customer Service!
Sweet. Indeed for free (that somewhat hurts you, doesn't it?) because TSB online banking was not accessible for weeks and no bank statements were showing up online. I didn't fancy going to the branch, queue, ask for the statements and then manually go through them page by page if I could have use the search tool for relevant period online, but guess what? IT WASN'T WORKING. For weeks. The TSB IT failure took place in April, I needed the statements in July. Still not possible. Happy I was able to see my balance online, because nothing else was working. So yeah, FREE.
Imagine 1 month bank statements. And multiply that by 132. That's a lot of data. I wonder how you would feel if someone would be able to flick through your bank statements. Years of it. Give me a break. Yes, it caused me anxiety. I shredder everything with my name/address on it. 11 years of statemetns 'out there'? Not cool.
And yeah, TSB is responsible for not taking the care or diligence to take a look at the consequence if such information would be lost. The Bank Manager admitted wrong doing.
"they probably didn't even send them in the first place, you don't know... " - TSB claimed that the statements have been posted, so yeah, I do know.0 -
The main risk is identify theft. Which requires a recent statement. So, as has been said before, 132 statements being lost in the post is not 132 times more distressing than losing 1. I think you are overestimating the impact of someone seeing your transaction history,Imagine 1 month bank statements. And multiply that by 132. That's a lot of data. In answer to your question, if you are unhappy, then you have the right to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service, which I'm sure TSB has already informed you. This could result in more compensation than TSB awarded, the same, or less.0 -
I don't think you should have any 'compensation' at all - you have suffered no material loss.
In fact, I think you should be paying them something for printing off 11 years of bank statements for you that is very good of them...
very good of them? to have an IT meltdown and not being able to allow me see my balance or pay my bills? for weeks? oh yeah, I forgot to say 'thank you'! I had no access to by bank account for weeks and was unable to see my bank statements. I should be grateful for giving me access to my bank statements that I should be able to have online? Months after they messed up?0 -
I won't waste either of our times by commenting on why I think you're wrong as countless others have done so as you've clearly made your mind up (not sure what the need was for this thread) but I can appreciate the statements were free because of the issues - I also imagine you received compensation for the TSB IT issues because let's be frank, you're hardly one to led things slide. I'm also still confused what the relevance is of the quantity of statements lost is? If you lost the last year you would be less fussed?
All I really wanted to know (as someone has already asked but you seemed to miss it);
How much compensation do you feel would be acceptable? (or enough for you not to raise another complaint after) = £1,000? £1,000,000?Know what you don't0 -
Please refresh your memory about the tsb crisis and it meltdown back in april 2018 and customers being unable to access their bank accounts/see the balance/see the statements. I didn't go paperless to ask my bank to print statements for me. Why for free? Because I was unable to access ANY statements, even two months back. The IT crisis took place in April, their system wasn't working in July, this is when I wanted to access my bank statements. I do keep myown records, the last 6 years.
Who knew Home Office will ask me for my income from 2007 onwards to 2018. I bet you remember how much you earned in the financial year 2007/2008. Cheers
The Home Office can’t expect everyone to have this information nor provide it in an instant.
They can also contact the bank directly and ask for the information.
And yes I do know - I have payslips and bank statements from when I first started working at the age of 16, pushing 20 years ago.0 -
You are worried that someone you don’t know will see that you bought a kebab on a debit card?Hello,
I had the bank statements re-issued and delivered as a tracked delivery this time. £100 for inconvenience might look justified, but £100 for lost 11 years of transactions history + my personal details? I don't think so.
It was the post office that lost your paperwork, it’s utterly u important, but your complaining got you compo, so what exactly is the issue?0 -
Maybe in future take some responsibility and keep your own statements.Sweet. Home Office asked for proof of residency from 2007. And information on all money received from employment from that year. HMRC does not have this information, indeed, only last 6 years. I got that too. I am self-employed. Unfortunately, I needed the statements and manually check my income from 11 years ago. Would be easier if TSB had resolved the IT issue by July that took place in April. If anyone needs their memory refreshed google 'tsb crisis april 2018'.
I know, I know, there is never any reason for you to take responsibility, and it is always someone else’s fault, but seriously, get a grip.0 -
What makes you think that? The Home Office doesn't have to be reasonable about these things. The Home Office can’t expect everyone to have this information nor provide it in an instant.
Whilst the Home Office could ask a bank for a customer's personal data, I would expect the bank to tell the Home Office where to go.They can also contact the bank directly and ask for the information.0 -
Im very much inclined to agree with the sentiment of the many replies on here
With the intention of actually answering your query though.. Why did TSB not continue to seek a resolution to your complaint? Well, because you accepted the £100..If you accept an offer of compensation in resolution to a complaint you cannot complain again about the same thing (as you have done) or claim you aren't happy with that resolution and want to pursue it further. You have to decline the offer to pursue it further, you can't expect to be redressed twice.
You got a good deal with the £100 for something getting lost in the post. The impact on you has been having to take 5 minutes out of your no doubt enthralling life to re-request the statements, £100 for 5 minutes work? I'd take thatI am a Mortgage Adviser
