A few years ago I had an interview in April and all checks were finally completed by July 3rd. DBS can take ages
There is a shortage of trained nurse nationwide so trusts tend to be a little more flexible
One trust I worked for agreed to wait 4 months from interview for 1 staff nurse to start only to find he found another job in the meantime !
    Good luck

They will honour holidays and it also takes a while for your PIN number to come through from the NMC. Good luck

Could you not schedule your university work around a holiday in the June half-term? Otherwise you've presumably got to wait until nearly the end of July before the schools break up?

I work in HR, and part of the final questions on the standard template is if you have any holidays planned.

Its not unusaul for people to have start dates 2-3 months after interview. And its not unusaul to have a holiday planned for some time after you start. 2 weeks is ok. Anything more they may ask you to cut it short.

If you have pre-booked a cancellable holiday soon as possible after the course ends, you'll have covered all bases. Several posters have said similar.

Please don't be put off if posters seem "curt". Many are working full-time and have family commitments but are still trying to help out the maximum numbers of queries possible.

This may make some try to be brief and succinct but still have enough impact to force you to see other sides of the problem and this may easily be misinterpreted as abruptness or maybe even rudeness. That's not the intentions, and nobody here gets a kick out of that, or at least I hope they don't.

You could approach the holiday situation at interview by saying something along the lines of "I've provisionally booked a 2 week holiday immediately after I leave Uni, will you be agreeable to that? If not I'll cancel the booking"

That puts the ball back in their court. If they really do need you to start a.s.a.p they can say so. If they are OK about it you win.

Don't worry about the less than useful comments by some participants on the board. If you're around long enough you'll soon spot the main 'contributors'. They are generally the same one's who won't simply answer a question but want to dig into all the other irrelevances from pure nosiness.

Thanks for that, yes i have noticed the same certain people commenting on other threads. Thanks for your advice, that's a great idea, it would show i am serious about that job enough to cancel my holiday which i actually would.

Thanks fro the advice. I think the pressure of deadlines would be too much to take a holiday in June. Thanks for the idea though. They are pre-school age

I hope they don't too, thanks for the reassurance and advice
