A quick update from K6 Towers, as it has been five weeks now since I was a wage slave. The reappearance of the winter jummy would appear to suggest that summer has been and gone. The cooler weather is hopefully positive for my 40-mile run next Saturday and the good news is that I am both tapering and carb loading, which for the uninitiated means slouching and eating cake! The Creative Writing course has started and as a result I found myself researching the chemical structure of 19th century biscuit tins, certainly a first for me. Downstairs the builders are busy converting cash into noise, much to the cat’s annoyance, but progress is being made. Still waking up at silly o-clock but did manage one glorious morning when I slept until gone eight. Today I have a hair cut AND a trip to Screwfix, so pretty busy. I have no idea how idea how I used to find time for work etc. Right, must dash, the kettle has boiled and I have builders’ thirst to sate.

I've spent the last 54 years tapering and I thought I was just lazy:p

Good to hear you are enjoying it so far and I hope you adjust to a later getting up time soon!
Yes I'm bugslet, I lost my original log in details and old e-mail address.

Well having written to my customers advising I was closing my business, several people have enquired about buying it, from the capable to the dreamers. So it look like along with attempts to organise building work on the new house from a distance, to trying to live a normal life with a broken arm, I will also have handing over my business to somebody else into the mix before we go on holiday then move house.

So I'm doing that thing several people seem to caution against doing, which is give up work and relocate to somewhere where we know nobody. Hey ho, has to be done, wish us luck.

Did that just about 2 1/2 years ago. Best thing we ever did.

We were at the previous place for a long time, as the children went through school etc. Very nice place, but I wanted a change. Moved to the coast (5 mins walk to beach), lots of shops and things to do within walking distance. Bus service brilliant to the various local towns, villages and beauty spots. I have many more friends here now than at the old place.

Although we have not done this, I think people make more of an effort to seek out new friendships if they move to a new area. I used to live near the sea but now, by any reconing, don't. I miss it!

We're also moving closer to the coast, about 8 miles, but 5 mins walk from the river. I'm looking forward to getting involved in what's going on locally, and hopefully making new friends.

Our new neighbours are lovely, one lot have been very helpful keeping an eye on the house and letting people in to do work.
