Previous tenants still using address after 2 years

Hi everyone,
I hope I am posting on the correct forum (first post), apologies if not.
Me and my partner have been in our home for a little under 2 years, the house was rented out before we bought it.
The previous tenants have a store credit card with a company and they have failed to update their billing address. This has resulted in us receiving letters pretty much every month, yes I know, not a big deal it's only a letter, but, it's worrying that if this is for a credit card and they flunk on the payments it will end up going on my record against the house.
Every letter we have received we have sent back to sender and wrote on the letter "Person no longer at the address", until we got fed up as nothing was being done, so we decided to call the company. The company stated that as this was not our account they cannot remove our address until the account holders contact them to change the address. This is not going to happen.
The next time we received a letter we decided to call them again. Got told the exact same thing. They said it was against GDPR and that they cannot remove our address. I think this is ridiculous as I thought that if you have asked to be forgotten, which we have, and they have refused then that is against GDPR? I have no clue about GDPR so that might not be true.
Does anyone know anything on this that can help.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

If you want to try again, write to the company informing them. Enclose a copy of your property Title showing you as the owner.chapers1704 wrote: »Me and my partner have been in our home for a little under 2 years, the house was rented out before we bought it.

No it won't. Records are against people, not properties.

So just bin the letters

Do they have free return envelopes in the letters. Fill those letters with something heavy and start posting backAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

It's a bit frustrating, but not really a big deal.
The bank will have made notes of their client's account about your calls and returned letters.
Realistically, the bank cannot stop sending statements to a customer, simply because a 'random' person phones them up asking them to.
The bank has no proof that you are who you say you are, and they have to consider the possibility that you could be 'up to mischief'.0 -
If they have prepaid return envelopes - or a prepaid return address on the letters - get a breezeblock and wrap it in cardboard and put the prepaid return address on that.
That's what I did when a lot of letters kept coming for the previous owners at one address.
Assume it got their attention because the letters stopped after that.0 -
Two years is nothing! We've been getting a monthly Amex statement for the previous owner of our house for coming up 15 years. Return to sender won't work as the return address is in Florida. They only send a statement because he's $10 in credit - an amount surpassed by the cost of the letters many moons ago.0

You don't just open them and have good nose? That's what we do!0

Just keep returning the letters to the sender and unopened...

Had one from bank or credit card yesterday addressed to someone who left here in 2007, or earlier.
I imagine he's defaulted, but I don't want to know, so back it goes unopened with a short explanation on the back.0 -
Just keep RTSing the letters, at some point their card will expire and a replacement will be posted out which you will also RTS, that should then kick something into action.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0
