Why not just open another (3rd) Vantage a/c - 4% instant access. And presumably you already have on-line access. Branches sometimes say 2 is the max but they'll happily open it for you on their phone lines!0

Thanks G-M, I originally thought that, but hopefully im going to be able to save £500+ a month, so I would soon be over the 7K threshold of the Vantage.
Does anyone know how I submit an R85 for an online account with A&L? (when opening a branch based account I just filled one in and handed it over)

If you've submitted one R85 to A&L won't they adjust all of your accounts both existing and additional to reflect this?
Not in my experience, TSB, Halifax and A&L have needed a separate r85 form for each account, especially if sortcodes differ. I have even had to re submit r85s when ive upgraded accounts and the account number has remained the same!! so now I like to belt and brace it.
Since posting the above I went into the branch, and they did it for me there and then (but i'll check at some point, as ive done this with other accounts and r85s have gone missing before being processed).
Its a pity that they dont issiue it on the basis of the person, rather than product, but they dont seem to.0 -
Problem here, I need a monthly savings account, with the best interest with instant access available...
Intelligent Finance at 2.85% seems best to me although I may be missing something?0 -
Coventry BS has an esaver at 3.25% which I opened last week, but I think it's been pulled now.0

The "traditional" monthly savers tended to offer much higher than usual interest rates, in return for highly restrictive terms and conditions, such as having to save a given amount each month, and not being able to access the money until the account matured.
If you need instant access, why not just use a normal instant access account? The A&L account mentioned earlier has a higher interest rate (3.15%) and there's nothing stopping you using it like a monthly saver.0 -
Sorry, by monthly I meant interest paid monthly, since I will be taking money in and out and in a years time or so (less even) i'll be taking it all out so interest paid yearly doesn't really suit me.
I won't be adding any money to the account, just taking £450 or so out ever month, with initial deposits of £1300ish 3 times over the next year (I'm a student).
So need interest to be paid monthly, instant access, online, A&L is yearly paid interest I believe?
EDIT - Have just got my IF pack through (obviously I can still change if I want to, don't have to send anything off yet) but they need ID of some kind, which I don't actually have, I can't really send them my driving license...
Egg account is yearly interest as well is it not?0 -
Birmingham Midshires Telephone extra account currently pays 3.15% and you can ask for monthly interest, but you have to operate it over the phone.
A&L also gives you 3.15% currently but interest is paid yearly on the 1st of October. However, I think that if you close it before a year is up you should get the interest paid upon closure (You'll have to check small print in the T&Cs).0
