I wouldn`t keep more than but up to if it was a decent rate and I already had a current with them.

After due diligence I did put more into HSBC around 2009.  I'd need to do the same thing with HSBC UK before I saved with them in 2022.   HSBC retail rates then were as high as 10%.  What tempts you to to invest in HSBC UK now????
  • I can’t see if this has been mentioned so thought I’d just share here (just in case I’ve missed it!]….

NatWest & RBS Digital Regular Saver (must have current account and max £150pm deposit) now 3.82%APR (3.75%AER). paid on first £1,000 saved. Likely to rise with next BoE BR increase?

Haven’t knowingly received any info from NatWest about this was just pure coincidence I’d checked the ‘view interest rate’ section on the app.

Transfers out to current account immediately.

If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

    Secured/Unsecured loans x 1
    Credit Cards x 8 (total limit £55,050)
Creation FS Retail Account x 1
    Creation Credit Sale 0% x 1 = £112.50pm x 20 mths
    0% Overdraft x 1 (£0 / £250)
    Mortgage Outstanding - £137,707.00 (Payment 13/360)
    Total Debt = £7,400 (0%APR) @ £100pm - Stoozing

This has been discussed on the regular saver thread, although I too am yet to hear directly from RBS or NatWest. I personally do not think they would be influenced by any BoE decisions.

  • Have Chase dropped the ball?  Still at 1.5% despite BOE rate rises.

They did it in order to build a big customer base in the UK and to that extent I would imagine they succeeded, judging by the account opening waiting times that ensued. As with all banks, I would imagine the rate they set will be dictated by how much they need our money.

Chase introduced the 1.50% savings account on 28th March 2022 when the previous market leading rate was Zopa at 1.00% up to £15k and Virgin Money at 1.00% on up to £25k.

    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2022/03/jp-morgan-s-chase-launches-new-saver-account-with-1-5----here-s-/

This was their strategy to gain customers and it came at an enormous cost. They now need to recoup some of that. Now they are lagging behind the only thing that will lead to them raising their rates is losing customers.

As far as I can see they still have the ball firmly grasped in their hands.

  • Hi I just opened a zopa account.

Can I put full 85k in and still get intrest or do I have to leave some wrigle room for interest.

I believe you can do that as far as Zopa's £85k Smart Saver account limit is concerned, however anything you have in there over £85k won't be FSCS-protected.
  • Buckinghamshire BS have launched a Single Access Saver at 1.85% (variable).
