I've just opened a Kaupthing Edge account and have had to send off some paper proof of ID/ Residence. I hope they accept what I found to send them  . This is getting ever more difficult as everything we do goes paperless and online. Does anyone else find this a problem?0

Hello. I'm thinking about opening a savings account with Kaupthing Edge bank, and was just reading through their terms and conditions. Under Fees it states that there's a £20 charge for CHAPS withdrawels from my savings account to my linked account. Does this mean that I'll have to pay a £20 fee every time I shift money from my savings account into my normal, current account? Also it states there's a £15 charge for every BACS transfer from my linked account returned unpaid. It's all a bit technical for my brain. Does this mean I pay £15 every time to move money from my current account to the savings account? What does 'returned unpaid' mean? Please help! x
For deposits - the £15.00 fee only applies if the BACS transfer fails. This will only fail if the account you are transferring from has insufficient funds or has been frozen. It is just possible that it can fail due to an error by the transferring bank but if that happens you can claim a refund of the £15.00 back from your bank.0 -

Having seen this morning's news, it's clear there were concerns re Icelandic banks several months ago. So why does Kaupthing Edge feature so strongly on your site? I now have several accounts with Kaupthing and am extremely concerned about this. I thought I was covered in the UK, but now I read that if the worst happens I would have to wait many months for my money to come from Iceland. Should I get my money out pronto?0

Based on your article on the above, we have been considering moving the bulk of our savings over to Kaupthing-Edge. In light of the negative reports over the past few days on the issues surrounding the Icelandic Banking system, would this still be a safe investment for us?

I know that the Kaupthing Edge account Martin identifies as a best buy is a UK bank and fully covered by the £50k guarantee, but when I read this sort of article, I just feel a little too anxious to put my money with them.
