I think "The 4 per cent is paid on balances up to £10,000" refers to the HSBC bonus saver, which is also discussed in the article. The West Brom Double Access account will be increasing from 3.85% to 4% on balances of up to £1,000,000.grumbler said:ForumUser7 said:West Brom BS DA -> 4% effective tomorrow? As branch or post operated only, I'll pass on this one.1 -
From TOTP thread, @soulsaversoulsaver said:West Bromwich BS 4.00% (07/06) Double Access Account (Issue 2) | the West Brom
Post/Branch opening only so doesn't get ranked.
Note: Viewable online but can't be managed on line - branch openers must use btanch and post openers must use post!!- If opened in a branch, you will then manage this account in any of our branches. If you open the account by post, you will then manage your account by telephone/post. With our savings portal you can also view your account online.

4% is indeed tempting, but I agree that by the time it's up and running and money transferred it'll no longer be TOTP and it'll be time to move on again with all the faff that involves of doing it by post. IMHO of course.wiseonesomeofthetime said:

My decision is also based on the fact that I currently hold a 4% EA account elsewhere ATM, albeit maximum six withdrawals, which I could use.TiVo_Lad said:

Was trying to separate funds into separate high paying account though (a bit like a pot), so will hang around a bit longer 😁0 -
West Brom
Emailed them to ask for an application to be posted to me on 1st June.
Got a response on 6th June telling me I have to phone them up to pass security questions, before they can post a blank application form to me...
If that is their customer service I think that I will pass on that account. Hanley posted one to me straight away, as have other institutions before.4 -
The 4% headline figure at West Brom is tempting but it will only be a week or two until there's half a dozen or more EA accounts over that number that are much easier to deal with.1
