Just thought I'd let everyone know that you can have more than one Santander current account (that pays 6% on balances up to £2500).
So far I've got two and haven't tried opening any more. Santander's systems are stupendously pants - if you open one account, then once it's open, apply for another, the online application still requires you to enter all your information (i.e. home address, work address, income, outgoings etc. etc.) again (a form-filling web browser is a must - remember to save the forms the first time you fill them in!). Once the second account is open, it won't show up in your online banking automatically; you have to phone them and ask them to add it.
One other drawback is they don't do outgoing Faster Payments yet (but you can pay in by Faster Payments). Accounts require a £1000 deposit each month, but this can be moved out again immediately.
However, I think the hoops are worth jumping through to get 6% on £5000 instant-access.0 -
This whole time I am looking for a good savings account...meanwhile my current account's interest rates beats all of these, all the ISA's. Why is it not mentioned here?
All you need is 5k and you get a whopping 4% interest. I am going to move my savings into my current accountDebt 1 June 2017: £35,000.00 ~ Debt now: £10,0000 -

Hi,
I'm recieving 8K as part if a deposit for a house, I don't think I'll need it for at least 8 months. I'mm need quickish access to it when I do though. I was thinking premium bonds, beacuse I could come up trumps, and interest on 8K isn't going to be that much is it?! Or would a saving acount be better? I don't know.
Any help appreciated0 -

For eight months, you'd get around £150.

No, not a regular savings account. It's a Santander current account that pays 6% on balances up to £2500, but you can have more than one account (opened two so far, haven't tried opening any more)
Read the post I made three posts earlier than the one you quoted.0 -
I went on the Santander site but could only see 5% current account on £2.5K. Has the 6% one been pulled?0
