The Top Easy Access Savings Discussion Area

Just had an email from Chip but it was to say they’re about to hit £1 billion in deposits with a chance for one lucky customer to have their next deposit doubled (T&C applies).
Hopefully they will review the interest rate on the Instant Access Account in due course. We’re about to hit £1 billion deposited from the Chip community in our Chip Instant Access Account.
At 3.40% AER (variable) on balances up to £250,000, we’re proud to say the account currently has the market’s best easy-access rate, and the highest rate for 14 years!
And of course, we regularly review the rate to ensure it remains top tier - especially following today’s Bank of England announcement.
Anyway, to celebrate with you and say thanks... we’ll double one Chip customer’s deposit (made before 6pm tomorrow), up to a maximum of £5,000.*- Make a deposit of at least £100 into any Chip savings account via the app between 17:00 (5pm) 23 March 2023 (today) and 18:00 (6pm) 24 March 2023 (tomorrow).
- We’ll randomly select one lucky person who deposited in this window and match their largest deposit (up to a maximum of £5,000).
- The winner will be paid by Monday 27 March 2024, and announced on social media shortly after.

I am being serious about 1st April, that's what the website says. But this would be a rather distasteful April Fool's Day Prank from NationwideIf you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.

Another (albeit only a small addition to make our life easier - saying that I don't know if it is requirement which is practiced by a few but ignored by many with the FCA being rather lax to enforce) is the interest rate displayed clearly on main page of app.
No need to hunt around for it like with the Kroo App (visit Kroo website and we see the prospective interest rate from 1 April in big letters with current rate in small print 🤷)
Btw, moneyfacts still lists chip at top with 3.40% and Cynergy at 3.25%.
I have about £5000 to save. Used cynergy in the past. However not impressed with the lack of an App (they only had the authenticator app - don't know if it's still the same). The amount of faffing around I had to do just to login to the website was enough to move the money to Atom and leave just £1000 in Cynergy pretty much fixed (can't be assed to do the hokey pokey with the authenticator each time I need to login to account).
I worked out the intest difference between 3.20% and 3.25% for £5000 and its £2.50. this is not compound interest. Compound is probably slightly more. Even if it's £3.00 less per year (less than price of a coffee ☕ ), I'd stick to atom, for the reasons above and withdrawals are much quicker (pretty much instant).1 -
