buying item in home town- seller won't respond

they are not even proffesional ebayers, part of the reason i am interested in buying off them is cos i know it was their own personal equipment and not some ex rental dustbin i could buy in town for a fiver, if they want to be ignorant (which is what its verging on now) they can do, they will lose a sale from someone who actually knows more about the item than they doI dont allow collection of items from my house as I feel its a little too personal to have customers coming to my door, however if someone local buys an item I will normally arrange to meet them somewhere nearby or deliver the item to their address if they are ok with that. Its a shame the seller is not replying to you - even a basic "no, sorry" would be better than ignoring you but they may be hiking up the postage price to increase profit and if you collected they are losing some of their 'guaranteed' profit from postage cost. things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then MercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok MercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

People have lives, the fact they haven't replied to your email doesn't make them ignorant, it probably makes them busy!
At the end of the day its their item until the auction ends, and completely their prerogative to sell as they wish. If they dont want you to collect then thats entirely up to them.0

Surely you saw the postage requirement BEFORE YOU PUT A BID IN?
If you were unhappy with the postage you should not have made a bid. It's that simple, I hope the seller lodges an unpaid item strike against you when you tell them "they can forget it" after you have messed up their auction.
With that attitude, I would lump you into the same category as the Nigerian scammers who also mess up auctions.====0

when i was selling computers my full time job was 55 hours a week as well, sorry but if i knew i was going to be busy i didn't sell cos i knew it would take up whatever time i alloted it and more on top, if i went somewhere to view stock and alloted an hour it would take 2, if i alloted half an hour to see a buyer, they would be busy and it would take an hour and i was turning round 15 year old games consoles for minimal profit cos i loved what i was doing.pulliptears wrote: »People have lives, the fact they haven't replied to your email doesn't make them ignorant, it probably makes them busy!

i didn't bid, and less comments about my attitude when you obviously have skimmed my postSurely you saw the postage requirement BEFORE YOU PUT A BID IN?

i hope the nigerians spam you for a post like that things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then MercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok MercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

But as you said, they arent "professional ebayers", if this is a sideline for them, a way to make a few quid and clear some old stuff they arent going to be on the computer 24/7 are they? I really think you are making a big issue out of not receiving a reply for whatever reason.0

I understand what you mean but for example:
 Postman
 Milkman
 Gas reader
 Electric reader
Anyone out to service something that's gone wrong
 Charity collectors
There's a raft of unknown people who visit you house, if you take precautions collect by person should be OK.0

There is a raft of people yes, but none of them are coming to collect what could be an expensive item.0
