£4850 - 4 Windows and Xtreme Front Door

Hi All,

This quote seems expensive to me so would be great to hear your thoughts on this...

Quote from a local business in Rainham, Essex.

- Bathroom Window 110cm x 90cm (split into two halves) - frosted
- Hallway window - 50cm x 90cm (split in two halves)
- Downstairs bathroom window 110 x 140cm (split into two halves) - frosted
- Bedroom widnow - Approx 160cmx 110cm (split into 4 parts

All with venting, child resticters etc

XtremeDoor Compsite door with two side panels.

All in £4850 (originally quoted £5550 but priced was brought down)

Windows Duraflex windows.
This seems expensive to me (Front door circa £1200 plus £500 per window - £3300 - £3500 was my thoughts but my wife thinks I'm being unrealistic).

What do you all think?

  • Why don’t you get some more quotes in your unsure rather than expecting people who don’t know to give you advice

Where did you find that information ? that's terrible & never seen anything price wise to match that . OP £4.8k is overpriced . Your price scale was more like what you should expect to pay . Maybe a little more on your door combi and a little less on your frames . (if white )

Just clarify the 2 side panels .. Are they glass sides or midrail & standard flat panel or composite side panels( difference can be about £700 on the job)

Yes its looks high to me, 3 to 3.5k is more realistic for what you have described around here (circa 20 miles west of central London)

    Hi All,
Thanks for the advice- really useful.
The side panels would be half glass (the bottom half is brickwork so they wouldn't touch that)

Richierich: I have called for a few more quotes but wanted to sense check hence I thought I'd "is this quote fair" forum!

As usual, sales lady wanted me to put money down on the evening, sign the contract there and then so glad I resisted the sales pitch.

    Thanks again

Don't let them over the threshold . Your thought on a quote is realistic and achievable . Composite doors do differ in price from different supplier but you should get a decent modern choice within your budget . Ive started talks to fit spitfire doors recently in my area only . they're impressive . expensive & a new option of door but turning the clock back to the original comp door metal clad . Posh commercial properties/ footballer & druggies wages

Just say no and wait a few day to weeks for them to ring with an improved price.

Blocking out quite a bit of light in small windows with all those splits. Are they all necessary?

The hallway window must have barely any glass in it at all.

3 years ago I paid £1600 for 2 composite doors (front and back), but neither with side panels.

And we paid £3,500 for 11 windows of various sizes and styles

I’d say £3,000 maximum, maybe a little more for yours. Our door supplier was actually from down your way as it goes, either Basildon or Benfleet or Rainham I think
