Total Parking Solutions con

Today my husband recieved a parking charge notice from a company called Total Parking Solutions. He has never been to the place where the alleged offence is supposed to have taken place. It's over 40 miles away from where we live. I don't drive, no one has borrowed or stolen our car and my husband is severely disabled...he can't physically drive more than about 5 miles from home. The photos on the paperwork are totally black except you can see the headlights of a car, which are not even the shape of our headlights. The paperwork has his name and car details correct but it was a different address by one number. They are demanding a £40 payment within 14 days or it goes up to £70. I know it's a private company and they wont bother taking us to court, but we did not commit this offence in the first place and don't want any more letters. Help!! What do we do next? Do we appeal or just ignore it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know if TPS take people to court, but many parking companies do. Tens upon tens of thousands a year, so do not ignore it.

Complain to TPS, the BPA, the DVLA, and your MP that you are being scammed by an unregulated company who have got your personal data from the DVLA without reason when the images clearly show a completely different vehicle to yours.

Send an SAR to the scammers as per the advice in the sticky thread for NEWBIES.

Appeal using the blue template from the NEWBIES if this hasn't been resolved within the appeal deadline of 28 days. Send it unaltered from the keeper.

    That's a rather rash statement.

Thousands of private parking cases get taken to court every year.

You need to be reading post #1 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread to better understand the game you are caught up in.

Send the already written for you blue template appeal you will find there.

Send it unchanged - no additions or alterations needed.

    Send it as the keeper.

That's about it for the moment.

I don't know if TPS take people to court,
They do. We have a thread about it at the moment, by TPSTwats.

The OP should read it to see why this complaint is important to get right.
The paperwork has his name and car details correct but it was a different address by one number.
As advised, send an email complaint to the DVLA:

    https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/driver-and-vehicle-licensing-agency/about/personal-information-charter
If the information we hold about you is incorrect, please let us know so that we can correct it.
    SubjectAccess.Requests@dvla.gov.uk

You will need to provide us with information to help prove your identity and find the information you are asking for so we can process your request.

If you would like information about your current vehicle or a vehicle that used to be registered in your name, you will need to provide:

    your full name
your current address and the address on your log book (V5C)
the registration numbers of the vehicles you are asking about

Also complain to your MP and to the Data Protection Officer at TPS (see their privacy page online for the email).
