Honda Accord Engine Oil - Can I use 5W-30 instead of 0W-30?

I currently have a Honda Accord 2004 which I think is due an oil change. The recommended oil is 0W-30 (google).
I already have a sealed 4L bottle of 5W-30 lying around which I previously bought for a BMW that I have since sold.
Can use it in the Honda instead?
I searched and read a couple of articles which say something about different viscosity at sub zero temperatures but do not provide a definitve answer.
Sorry don't know much about these things

Generally speaking you can move to gloopier (technical term) oil as your car gets older.
The higher the numbers on the can, the gloopier the oil.
You should be ok with 5w30.0 -

Personally I would still get the correct oil, Ow-30 is thinner at cold than 5w-30, the extra weight adds unnecessary load on the engine reducing performance and economy .
However it is your car and the few quid can turn out to be a false economy in the long run.
Asda were doing MFR spec oil for £19. Asda get the oil in white labelled.0 -

You can if you want to accelerate the wear even faster as with a worn oil pump thicker oil just increases the time it will take to send oil up to the camshaft at the top of the engine spinning away with zero lubrication after being parked overnight. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Here is a company that provides excellent mail order service and very keen prices on Honda stuff.
https://www.coxmotorparts.co.ukFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
If you read a manufacturer's handbook the engine oil is normally ,maybe always, displayed as a chart which shows recommended engine oil for different ambient temperatures. There's always a considerable tolerance such that for typical UK winters 0w20, 0w30 5w30 and even 10w40 are all ok. If the engine consumes any oil then the latter might be advantageous.0

Their prices don't seem anywhere as good as other online retailers like carparts4less for example. Am I missing something?Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.
