  • Haha I was waiting for someone to say that! I guess that’s why i’m so miffed as I am usually so careful never to be ripped off or pay full price. For some stupid reason I have been taken in by TK Maxx

You do have to watch TK's pricing; I often think that their "RRP"s can be a bit fanciful.

However, if you have evidence that the manufacturer's actual selling price and RRP are radically different to what the shop said, then their ticketing is untruthful.

Hi. The item you bought does sound very nice. I can't offer you much in the way of consumer help but I do know that TK Maxx are very good on customer service. I have had to deal with them a couple of times when merchandise has went wrong. Always getting a refund without any fuss. Good luck.

You paid £39.99 which you were happy with. Why do you want a refund ? I hate TK Maxx, it's like a huge jumble sale. Their HomeSense shops are completely different though.

I'm a huge fan of Homesense, have bought lots of things from them. I buy things that I have a rough idea of what they would cost in other shops as they are well known brands. I have recently bought a lot of Joseph Joseph kitchenware at very reasonable prices and good quality nail products (eg O.P.I nail products for £3.99)

Unfortunately our nearest store is 40 miles away but we have a TKMaxx very close. I still buy things there but not clothes.

I'm afraid the old saying "caveat emptor" is still true.

You say you purchased online, when was it delivered and did tkmaxx inform you of your statutory right to cancel in a durable medium (websites are not durable, email is but links to websites sent by email is not)?

I really can't believe you think price is an indication of quality...

That's very true because I'm amazingly cheap :D

I am very into perfume and know the RRP of them. I do go into TKMaxx and see their RRP and just laugh, if I still want and think it is a good deal I will buy.

Last year they were selling L'Artisan Parfumeur at £24.99 for 50mls I knew the price it goes for from the actual company and a great deal as that size is £70+. Now the same size is around £39.99 in TKMaxx.

TK maxx are a clearance house. They buy last seasons stock at huge discounts and pass it on from designers and known brands.

It is however from seasons past so never current stock. They also bring in a lot of stock from other manufactures and simply make up prices as they go. A RRRP is meaningless, most of the non branded or Rolsen tools etc can be bought cheaper else where despite what the RRRP states.

I am at a loss as to how people can still be swayed by RRRP's.

You used RRRP 3 times in your post, so it obviously was deliberate. What does the 3rd R stand for? (I've only ever seen it written as RRP = Recommended Retail Price)
