Tesco bio detergent tablets don't dissolve!

Has anyone else had trouble with the new Tesco own brand bio detergent tablets for your washing machine. Our washing machine started to flood and after investigation, we realise the problem is the new design detergent tablets. They do not dissolve very well at all and block up the inside of the machine. We have placed a new tablet and an old tablet in a bowl of cold water. The old ones crumble quite readily and dissolve - the new ones remain solid. This is a clear design fault, the new tablets aren't of satisfactory quality and not fir for purpose and we will be asking for a refund. We also have a consequential loss claim in respect of water flooding onto the floor and the hassle of cleaning up. We thought it was a fault with our washing machine. No - it's the new Tesco tablets. Don't these people test their new products? Clearly not. I think Tesco need to recall this product.

Have you googled to see if others have reported a similar issue ?

Have you informed Tesco of said issue ?
  • Coincidentally I have just returned a pack of Tesco all-in-one dishwasher tablets which didn't get dishes clean and didn't fully dissolve. As well as a full refund I was offered the option to receive the manufacturer's report since local customer services said they hadn't had any other reports of problems with the product.
Maybe Tesco are trying to cut one corner too many? Regardless of the result. I've gone back to Aldi tabs, slightly cheaper and I've never had a problem with them.

I'm finding that Persil non biological detergent tablets don't dissolve as well as they use to. I just make sure I crush them as they go in the detergent drawer.

How much hassle is it to clean up?
  • I get the same issues with those washing machine liquid capsules, often find the outside skin on them lying in the washing machine somewhere or over part of my washing and I have to put it in the wash again.

I managed to find three boxes of the old-style Tesco tablets, reduced in prices, so I nabbed them quick .... Having read your post, I'm grateful I did :) At least I don't have to try the new tablets for a few months.

How can you prove it was the detergent that caused your machine to block ?
  • I pulled the detergent tray out and found two undissolved tablets blocking the rubber pipe that connects the tray to the machine drum

Place the tabs in the drum, not in the dispenser draw?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Washing tablets aren’t supposed to go in the detergent drawer. They break up as they tumble with the clothes
