F1 Autocentres

I have posted this here as I expect many users have fallen for this company's prices, which at first appear very competitive. However, if you read the reviews on MSE here and also on reviews.co.uk you will find the following: 1. They will keep you waiting a long time … 2. They will try to upsell you stuff you do not need (and cannot verify unless you know you car like I do) and 3. They employ rude and offensive staff. Me and my Dad's experience at their Gloucester office was no exception. We went for 2 tyres. Waited 90 mins. When we complained received a rude response. In the end left with just 1 tyre out of 2 fitted … and they refuse a refund. I have seen a prior post about this firm where their PR team trotted out a weasel worded standard post … it seems they have not mended their ways and continue to trade in the same poor manner. There should not be a place for firms that do business this way. Avoid at all costs.

What is it with newbies and polls. This should be in the Praise, Vent, Warnings section.

Where's the poll option for "Poll threads on MSE are stupid"?

  • Option 3, never used them. Therefore unable to answer 1 or 2.

Haven't been to one for 20 years but the one I have used in Wigston was fine, never felt pressured or ripped off. Out of the fast fit chains I believe they are still family owned.

Nearest one to me is now 20 miles away.
  • They added enough faults to my wifes citreon ax on her MOT to make it a write off at their Bristol branch.

The clutch went soon after so we changed it but 99% sure I could have got the work much cheaper elsewhere and half the faults they supposedly found.

I said above that I was happy with their service but I wouldn't let them do anything more complicated than change tyres, that's what proper garages are for.

  • Why would you leave before they fitted both tyres?
  • I've been to two of their branches in Bristol at various times and never had any problems. I've always found them to be the best of the 'kwik fit' type chains (best prices as well).

Mind you - as previously mentioned - I would never use them for anything more than new tyres or an AC re-gas.
