How Can I test if my SD card is faulty
Comments

By what process were you downloading the music?0
-
At the time is stopped working was when I was making some amendments to Titles and Artists on MP3Tag When I have downloaded some of music it is either from my own CDs or occasionally from U Tube in MP3 format using the easy u tube convertor.
I was amending an artist on the MP3 tag and everything disappeared from the scree., When I put back the SD card into my Samsung tablet the music was blank. I have tested the USB port itself with an entirely different device and it works so it not the USB port. There seems to me to be no logical reason why the SD card stop functioning as It has been problem free since i purchased it in November. I was only doing what I have done several times before when there was not an issue.0 -
So it didn't stop when you were actually downloading the music, then?
What were the symptoms of it stopping working whilst using mp3tag? What did you see onscreen?
Did mp3tag crash? Did the titles disappear from the mp3tag edit window? What actually happened?
It's perfectly OK to tell us more info than we ask for. We can disregard any irrelevant stuff if needs be. Feel free to tell us in detail what happened ...0 -
I luckily have just picked up this post by chance, whilst looking for something entirely diffence. In many ways it mirrors what happened to me when I was using MP3tag yesterday. My SD Card has stopped working and will not connect to the relevant USB drive with same message as in Post 8. I have a SanDisk 32kb SD Card. So far no luck in finding the fault so any contributions in trying to resolve will be helpful.0

I would suggest using something like systemrecuecd , which of course is not exactly user friendly for the Windows users, but it will work from a usb stick and has many useful features/apps which will help determine if your card is recoverable. As I mentioned earlier recuva may/may not work if the card is not mountable in Windows. I normally use linux, especially for determining what’s wrong in these cases, some of the people on here that know windows better than I may have more ideas to suggest to run under windows4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . FWIW, I've used mp3tag in the past to update files on USB drives, and not had any problems. A bit slower than editing on the HDD, but no problems or crashes.
The mp3tag community forums appear to be unavailable at present.0 -
What in my opinion we have on this forum is two entirely different schools. The first being the real techies with a wealth of expertise and are quite brilliant on their subject. They do their level best to pass on their knowledge by being very helpful but sometimes do not appreciate others have low technical knowledge. Without the real Tecih8es many of us would be lost and would not have any idea where to start. The other camp is people like me who have limited understanding and when they have an issue, turn to forums like these for help, but have some difficulties in understanding and puuting into place the guidance given by the expert Techies.. So we come back the question of the malfunctioning SD card. How can young actually ascertainnif this faulty. If you cannot connect your SD card through your USB port , because it says it cannot read the SD card. Then if you run one of the suggested programmes like system rescue or recuva how does it pick up the SD card if it is not connected. Is the MP3 tag identified as a possible issue by a number of contributors on this post/forum and other similar posts a "red herring" and the actual problem is elsewhere. I look forward to any feedback on the overall problem here is whether it is possible to establish whether an SD card is defective , and what various recovery programmes can do to rectify. Bearing in mind the need for any possible solution to be expressed in very simple terms.0

I refer you back to post #3. Try it in different places, different USB ports, different devices, different readers. If there's a problem with music files, do something else with it, like photos.

My Samsung Sd Card has just stopped working this morning. I have not been using the MP3 tag, but I have suddenly lost all my music for no apparent reason. I do not use my SD card which is a for anything except music. Like others I do not seem able to get a connection through my USB port . The light shows up on SD card reader so there is power. Referring to post 16 how exactly will my SD card be recognised if I download one of sites mentioned. All I want to find out if my SD card has been corrupted or whether my music files are recoverable or the SD card has failed completely. I have tried putting new music on my SD card but as the USB port file does not connect I cannot put any music on my SD card.0

Do you use it in a mobile device? Have you put it back in the mobile device to see if it will read/write it as opposed to the PC?0
