  • That sounds much more helpful.. are they sending you a form then?
Nope, apprantly I have to call the Bailiff to ask him to bring me one and apprantly I can ask him to post it through the letterbox and then I have to return the form to their head office address.

Nope, she never said anything about charges to me. I dont think we have any choice but to do it this way.

maybe you could pick it up from the bailiff office? When you call them just make sure you find out if there's any charge and what your options are... don't get stung by an extortionate visit fee just to deliver a letter!

  • Have tried to call the B but it goes to his voicemail, should I leave a message asking for the form and repeat what his head office said to me?

  • I have called the Bailiff and repeated to him what HO said to me on the phone and he said they shouldnt of said that I dont have to let him in and that my offer of instalments may not be accepted, I said thats not what the woman said on the phone. I also said about my panic attacks that I was having whilst on the phone to him and he was lovely about it and said he is in another part of the county at the moment but will drop the forms in next week and we need to fill them in and return them to HO but he said they may not accept the offer of payment. He also said any problems with it then call him and he will help me in any way he can. I also pointed out to him that it is pointless him coming into the house to make a list of our posessions as we have hardly anything except the kids stuff and our sofas. I know its probably his job to be nice to us so he can get his money but he has reassured me slightly even though he didnt sound impressed with his HO.

  • Hi you still not sorted then, you should get C.A.B or M.I.N.D to phone the bailiff for you. They did it for me and asked them to hold on coming round until they contacted the council, and if i still owed the money to sort out a payment plan for me that i could afford

    Hiya
We are getting there (slowly) the short version is we called the council who said that as we were no longer in their area the debt had been passed to Rossendales so they advised to call their offices. I called them, had a really unhelpfull operator and then called again and got someone who was more helpful and said I did not have to let the bailiff in and that I needed to call the Bailiff and request a Request To Pay In Instalments form, fill that in and return it to their head office. So called the Bailiff who when I said what his office had told me (ie not letting him into my house) and also he tried to imply that going through his head office would get my payment offer refused, he was not at all impressed with them and said he was going to compain to them. I also mentioned about my PND as was starting to have a panic attack about it all and he was really nice about it, said he would post the form through my letterbox next week and in the meantime try to worry and nothing more will happen between now and then. He also said I need to fill in both copies of this form and post them as I had been instructed.
Thanks for thinking of me, am not in such a state about it now, I just hope it all continues this way (prob not knowing my luck).
I have been trying to call my local CAB all day and cannot get a answer on their phone. I know they are busy people but would of though that at least one of the 22 times i have tried would of been successful.
