Amazon firestick issue

Sorry, I should have been clearer, I meant contract as in the contract of sale, the same as if OP had bought a book for example and had been refunded in full and allowed to keep it.How have they blocked an individual Firestick? In what way is it blocked?
@post #10 ... there is no contract with a Firestick. There may be contracts for individual apps on the stick, but not for the stick itself. The only related contract may be Amazon Prime, but that's not specific to a particular stick, as the OP already confirms.0 -
Maybe no contract but individual devices can be blocked, however I've never heard of this happening because it was given away as a freebie. I wonder if it was written off by Amazon as lost or stolen and there's some automatic function within their systems to block the device in such a case. How have they blocked an individual Firestick? In what way is it blocked?

Seems a bit harsh by Amazon but at the end of the day the OP hasn't lost anything so if they want to continue using they should pay the discounted price they originally wanted to pay.0 -
In the chat history they openly admit it was the mistake of the person on the 19th, in which they state they will be corrected in how they should deal with these incidents.
Its not a case of being cheeky, if someone tell you that you can have something free of charge and then change their mind 3 months later and attempt to bill you then that is just wrong.
I think some people on these forums just get off on belittling people asking a genuine question I really don't understand it!0 -
You're not being "belittled". As they've explained Amazon have made a mistake and are simply asking you to pay the original, discounted price you wanted to pay in the first place. In the chat history they openly admit it was the mistake of the person on the 19th, in which they state they will be corrected in how they should deal with these incidents.

I can see the legal complications with this one. Its quite ironic.
So you bought a product and for whatever reason was given a refund and allowed to keep the product. Since then your product has gone faulty (deliberately of course). This typically allows you the right to a replacement, repair of refund. Problem you have is thats up to the retailer. Lets assume they refund you, theyll refund you what you paid which is nothing. So back to square one.
From the legal side of things i cant see how you can win this one. That said, service wise its pretty poor.0 -
You asked a genuine question and have had genuine answers. I think your stance on this is ridiculous. That's my view on it.I think some people on these forums just get off on belittling people asking a genuine question I really don't understand it!
If you only want answers that back your view, I'll give it a go:
I think you've been terribly wronged, Amazon should immediately renew your free service and send you a hamper.0 -
I'm still curious as to what "block" means. What actually happens? Does the device give a warning message and stops you accessing any app at all on the device?0

Its when you turn on the firestick it attempts to update, but it says it can't. Its a strange one really I didn't know they could do it either!0

Technically speaking they haven't changed their original offer. You still have a firestick free of charge, just the functionality has been removed.0
