  • Yeah totally.

When a pharmacist or a member of their team say “oh I’ll do it for you” I just smile and say “no your alright I’ll do that”

Part 2 - is where you confirm what you paid.

    Part 3 - date & sign.

iI's never even occurred to me to keep the receipt for paying for my medication but I will be doing so from now on.

    A quick update..

In the end, I went straight to Boots and spoke the pharmacist and she was really helpful. She got in contact with the NHS and requested the prescription back to have a look at. She did say that 'this does happen occasionally, don't worry we will sort it out".

A few days letter i was called to go and pick up a letter from her which said a mistake had been made. I then contacted the NHS penalty people and emailed the paperwork over and the penalty got cancelled.

Lesson learnt: Always fill out the information on the back of the prescription, and always keep a copy or photo of the receipt.

Oh I fully acknowledge most people will bin them, I just tend to be one of those people that keep receipts safe for a long period of time.

Most people will bin unimportant receipts but ones where there can be a comeback should be kept.
    It's nothing , not nothink.

The same happened to me at the beginning of the year except I had filled in the back of the form (stating that I was paying and I did indeed pay) but somehow after the fact it had gone through as being exempt from paying due to being on a qualifying benefit. Apparently that can happen a fair bit too if in the past you did qualify for free prescriptions and it is an electronic prescription.

My penalty charge was also quashed.

Unfortunately, it has scared me. I now have an exemption under the low income scheme but I am so worried about it happening again I've not requested any of my medication nor seen the doctor since! Silly I know (and I do know, my rational self tells me off all the time) but when my mental health is declining and my body is ablaze with pain, I tend not to be that rational.

I was going to put my big girl pants on this week and go up....they got as far as my knees and then faltered. Next week it is then....:o
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Don't panic. If you have an exemption now and make a mistake you have an automatic right of challenge.

and if you have filled out the back of your prescription correctly then you will also be covered

  • Remember that even if you pay for prescriptions, you should be filling in the back of the prescription yourself and stating how much you have paid and signing and dating the prescription.
