Sky to hike TV and broadband prices from April - MSE News

I really don't know why people are prepared to pay this increase, given how expensive Sky is already.
I used to quit or threaten to quit till i got a good deal but Sky are now far inferior to netflix and a hell of a lot more expensive.
Quit back in October and we have not missed it one jot. Game of Thrones is the only big card they have left, but I will watch that round my mums house.
After GoT try cancelling and resist all offers (got my weekly come back for £13 letter this morning and stuffed it straight in the bin without opening). There is more on Netflix and Amazon prime than i can ever watch, so why do i need Sky on top of that.
The TV license is next for the chop when my missus has finished with this sewing bee rubbish.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
can anyone advise why prices are increasing for tv package, yet you cannot leave penalty free mid contract please ? thanks
quote from MSE website:
"If you're within your minimum term for a TV contract, unfortunately you CAN'T exit it penalty-free as a result of these price changes – although you may still be able to try to haggle with Sky if you're unhappy about the change. You could also remove any unwanted monthly add-ons, such as Sky Box Sets, to reduce your costs.
Sky says that if you have a bundle that includes TV and broadband, you CAN cancel the broadband element – although you won't be able to exit the TV part penalty-free."0 -

Because it's in the T&C's that people agree to without reading.0 -
I received a letter from Sky as my contract hit its 12 month end saying not to worry as they would continue to discount my service for another 12 months. What they didn't tell me was how much it WAS going to cost and I now find my subscription has increased by £6 a month. Haggling is all well and good but every time you haggle them down you enter into a new contract, so being as I am out of contract I am just going to pay the extra £6 and then leave in a couple of months when I am ready. They are absolutely impossible to communicate with!0

Anyone had an email yet about a price increase. Nothing here for me or the other person's whose account I deal with. Obviously checked junk mail folder.0

Sky? They're the easiest company in my experience to talk to, getting what you want out of them may be a different story.snowycatgirl wrote: »Anyone had an email yet about a price increase. Obviously checked junk mail folder.Bear in mind that even if you ARE able to leave your contract penalty-free, you'll only be able to do so once you've received official notification of the price increase from Sky – it'll be writing to all customers from Thursday 21 February.
The prices don't rise until 01/04/19 so they'll have until 01/03/19 to contact you.0 -
Email from Sky about 4pm stating if you are a Sky Talk customer, 0845 and 0870 numbers are no longer included from inclusive minutes.
Website has also reflected these changes for new customers.
I renegotiated with Sky last night for a new deal but have now cancelled as wasn't aware of this change.
Please consider this before renewing with Sky.0 -

0845 and 0870 numbers are being used a lot less though now, and you can always look up alternative freephone or regular numbers for them on https://www.saynoto0870.com - I don't think that in itself should be a deciding factor on whether to go with them or not.0 -
New to SKY and won't be renewing my broadband and anytime phone. Never had a contract without fixed pricing for the duration before. (Never thought to plough through the small print in T&C's)
I got the emails: one to welcome me to the benefits of Sky on 5th Feb; the next to advise me of price increases of over 15%. Confirmed with SKY that even though I have just joined I will have to pay extra from 5/5/19 and with another increase before I finish my 18 months. I can cancel contract, and claim a refund on router delivery - at least thats what I was told on the phone.
I note today that pricing of £18 per month has now been withdrawn from comparision sites - it was still available on 20th.0 -

Out of interest who does guarantee no price rises? Taktalk do I think but who else?
The Sky £18 a month for ADSL is still there BTW, perhaps because you've actually got it, it's not being shown for you? I used the link at the top of this page for comparison.0
