This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I seem to be having one of those can’t sleep nights. I have had four hours though so that is something. I’ve been enjoying a mug of hot chocolate and a programme I had recorded for the past hour, and am going to have a read of some things on the internet for a little while now.

If the sun comes out this morning as forecast I’m going to wrap up and go for a gentle stroll around the park and make the most of peace there before half term next week when it will be busy if the weather isn't too bad.

I’ve decided not to plan any particular household chores but to just see what I feel up to doing. I’m still finding that I need to rest a lot so this afternoon I will probably chill out on the sofa with a good book and watch a bit of TV. No doubt as I was up most of the night I will have a nana nap as well.

A friend is coming over later for a coffee and cake and she has made my favourite apple cake, so I’m looking forward to that.

Hugs to all with worries and who are poorly/caring for someone who is, take care x

Whatever you are doing, have a good Wednesday everyone.
  • Morning Holly (and everyone who will be here later).

I slept relatively well but I can't stay in bed once awake. The forecast here is good and I might do yet more washing, it seems never ending.

I need to go shopping for a few bits and bobs later.Other than that, no fixed plans.

OH was out for 7 hours yesterday taking the car to the dealership for the windscreen squirter to be replaced. He said he amused himself by going for a short walk, then reading the free newspaper at the garage, watching their massive telly (ours is not a big one) and seeing how much free coffee and biscuits one human could contain. The final half an hour was after he got the car back and went to get his hair cut. You wonder sometimes, don't you, why not take a book.

    Hope everyone is doing well
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Another one here in the insomniacs club. Like AOD once awake, no matter what time, that's my lot and I can't get back to sleep again. The usual problem of my mind working overtime and dwelling on things I can't change.

Thanks for the input on water meters yesterday. My online request has gone in to Yorkshire Water so I await developments! I think I may have to scrub the green patio with copious amounts of water before the big day arrives. I just need the energy to do it sadly!

No plans for today but the list of jobs I keep putting off doing is growing by the day. I really should put my mind to them, if the hips and knees will co-operate. Such joy getting old.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still pitch black, dry underfoot and no frost, supposed to be getting milder - we'll see.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was duck legs in red wine, mash and veg - lovely it was. Tonight will be jacket potatoes with tuna mayo, cold meat and side salad.

Yesterday work was again either manic or dead, we'll see how today goes. After today I'm on days' off and won't be back at work until Monday - although still have the overgrowing "to do" list that just seems to get bigger rather than smaller.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off Holly, enjoy your walk, apple cake yum.

Yesterday was so warm we managed a little time in the garden, pulled a few weeds up and tidied a bit. Picked the last two peppers we had growing in a pot so will make lentil and red pepper soup.

Plans for today, waste this morning, sorry that should be visit mother this morning, maybe vacuum and tidy if I have the energy this afternoon.

Thoughts are with those finding life difficult at the moment
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.

    Morning All

Blustery out with a little rain thrown in for good luck but very mild.

That's my little holiday over, it's an in service day today so shouldn't be too taxing. Always a good time to catch up.

I made some vegan banana bread for DD yesterday and will deliver that on my way home (hoping for an early finish) then home to watch the Sewing Bee, I can't concentrate on anything after 9pm!

Thinking of those with worries, take care. XX

    Morning :)

No idea what the weather is doing yet but according to carol its going to be 15 in Cheshire....best hunt out my sunnies and bikini for a sun bathing afternoon :D Another option of course would be not to do this :D

Mum day was pretty uneventful and she even said thank you when I delivered some of the lentil and bacon soup...thats gotta have hurt.
Lunch was her favourite pub where she did her usual games taking way too long to drink her wine 3 couples came in ate and left before we did ...lucky them :rotfl: Anyway its been a lot worse so wont complain

Food was a tuna panini with chips which was ok. Today will finish the soup off for lunch then for dinner I've got out some BBQ chicken thighs and fancy some baby potatoes with it. Hoping it hasn't dried out like the Moroccan chicken but at least i can easily knock up some extra bbq sauce.

Need to hit M+S today to get some flowers and a gift for my friends birthday. Shes been a good friend to me despite going through a heck of a lot herself so want to get something a little special. Could do with some new pants as well ...the ones that keep your ribs warm :o

Right have a great day all :A

    Good morning everyone.

Cold, wet and grey outside. I'm off to the college this morning to force myself to do some work. If I stay at home there's always other more interesting things to distract me. :p

    Happy Wednesday to all.
