Parking ticket paid

I really need your help!!!
Back in December we visited Manchester and parked in Browncross Street euro car park, we didn’t have any cash on us so paid for our ticket by debit card. The first ticket machine we came too was not taking card payments it was out of order would only take cash, so looked for the next nearest one, this one accepted card payment I purchased a ticket displayed it and off we went shopping. However weeks later we receive a fine through the door saying we didn’t purchase a ticket. Obviously didn’t still have the ticket but luckily enough I payed on card so had the proof on my bank statement. I appealed the case even sending pictures of proof on my bank statement. Month later I get a reply my appeal has been rejected and I can appeal to POPLA, I obviously want to do this because I have paid and got the proof. I have searched this website for hours and can’t seem to find a similar case to mine, so any help you can give me would be amazing thank you.

  • Sounds like you got a clear cut case. How does the transaction appear on your bank statement?

What is the reason for the ticket? No ticket displayed?

This will be about a VRN error when using the keypad and there are POPLA appeals like that all over the forum! Very common.

Or it will be about the time it took you to pay...if over ten minutes.

It wasn't a fine, and PPCs do not use words like 'didn’t purchase a ticket'.

It will say something like 'failure to make a valid payment' which means one of the 2 scenarios above.

Send a SAR to SIP, to see the PDT machine data.

See the NEWBIES thread, search it for SAR. Do that first.

  • Browncross Street is "Operator Euro Car Parks"
  • I definitely payed for the ticket within 5 minutes of being in the car park.
Sorry yes it said no valid parking ticket.
They sent pictures on my rejected appeal of there machine and which cars had paid.
  • This is what I explained the first machine I went to wasn’t taking card payments (it was out of order for card payments) so I went to the next nearest one I could see and purchased a ticket, I wasn’t the only one who did this a few people had to do it.

So you paid for the car park next door. You paid the wrong company.

  • I just presumed it was all the same. It never crossed my mind they was different car parks until you have just said. Is there no way I can appeal it then?

Of course you can appeal it, we've seen this place before.

What have you found when you searched the forum and saw previous cases like it?
