I have looked at Lexmark website but find it confusing and am not sure how to find the right driver to download. So far I have tried through some promising websites but avg anti virus keeps stopping any attempt.
Firstly you need to determine as to whether you have 32 bit of 64 bit Windows installed. Press and hold the Flying Windows key and whilst holding it down, press the Pause Break key.
It will be under System Type.0 -
Once you have ascertained which, either download;
32 bit Vista Driver
or
64 bit Vista Driver
according to whatever you have installed now. Choose to Save the file.
Then go to Device Manager(Ctrl + X, then choose Device Manager), find the Printer name within the list, right click on it and choose Un-install Device. Go forward with this, also confirming that you want to remove any associated Driver package. Do not reboot at this stage.
Next, unplug the Printer's USB cable from the PC and go on to un-install all existing Lexmark software from the computer via Control Panel > Programs.
Once complete, you can reboot the PC and go on to install the appropriate Vista Driver via Compatibility Mode as shown earlier.0 -
Your Lexmark is at least 7 years old, probably more: they exited the inkjet market in 2012.
You've just paid for a new W10 PC, and then again for someone to transfer the data over to it. So around £500 invested so far? Given that you could buy a new Canon AIO machine (copy/print/scan) for £24.99, is it really worth all the hassle to try to keep the Lexmark going?
I'm all for money saving, but there is an expression: 'penny-wise and pound-foolish'.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I don't think Froglet would have paid £500 for this Macman?

Correct,Cranford! It was hubby's old one.Whilst doing I tunes and loading lots of Cds into it,i accidentally broke the cd rom, very flimsy, horizontal design. So he decided to get another one and I got this one repaired and set up for me to use.My windows 7 computer was old too,and slowing right up.
I can buy a new printer, yes, but so far I am not doing much printing at all,and once I work out which one I need,or whether my sister's laptop will still work with it,i may not need to.0 -

Yes,but I am struggling with the amount of opposing reviews on the various printers,so am unsure of what will be the easiest to use ,when I go down that route.0 -

I have done what you suggested but it seems I need to pay 10 dollars or whatever per month to get the driver? Am I doing something wrong?0 -

(already provided on page 1).
The drivers are listed in the middle of the page about one page down (vista 64-bit anyway); if you have problems downloading this, shout again and I'm sure somebody will help get the right file.If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
